Bundesliga Betting Preview – 02/12/16
In our Bundesliga betting preview we look at the best possible betting tips for the selected fixtures.
FSV Mainz 05 v Bayern Munich
On Friday evening this week in the Bundesliga we see Carlo Ancelotti take his Bayern Munich side on the trip to the Opel Arena to face Martin Schmidt’s FSV Mainz 05.
The home side Mainz head into the visit of Bayern Munich knowing that it is going to take them something fairly special if they are going to get anything from this match. After their fantastic season last time round which saw them finish in a very impressive 6th place in the table, and therefore qualify for the Europa League, they will have been hoping for more of the same this year. However that hasn’t exactly been the case but they aren’t a million miles away as they currently find themselves sat in 9th place. They’ve been pretty inconsistent in the Bundesliga recently with each of their last three wins being followed by a defeat. So with their last fixture ending in defeat, then it looks like they’re due to cause an upset here.
Their most recent match last Sunday saw them travel to Olympiastadion Berlin to face Pal Dardai’s Hertha Berlin who have had a fantastic start to their season. Mainz actually took a surprise lead in the 25th minute when a loose ball fell to Aaron Seydel six yards out who couldn’t really miss. That only lasted 10 minutes though as a low strike from Ibisevic from outside the area found its way into the bottom corner. The same player then but Berlin ahead in the 67th minute when the ball was headed back across to him and he poked it home to win the match.
The away side Bayern Munich go into the trip to knowing that they can’t afford to slip up here on Friday evening or else they face the danger of falling six points behind the top spot. This is unusual territory for Bayern who have won the Bundesliga for the previous four years on the bounce. What’s even more strange is that they aren’t second behind Borussia Dortmund, their is a new challenger in town, the newly promoted Red Bull Leipzig who look like serious title contenders. Bayern have actually only won once in their last four in all competitions and will know that nothing short of three points is acceptable.
Their most recent game last Saturday saw them welcome Roger Schmidt’s Bayer Leverkusen to the Allianz Arena who have struggled in the league so far. The hosts took the lead after half an hour thanks to Thiago Alcantara who was left with a simple header from close range after the keeper could only parry a save into his path. The visitors pulled themselves level just 5 minutes later though with a smart finish from a tight angle by Hakan Calhanoglu. Bayern got their winner in the 56th minute curtesy of a Mats Hummels header from a corner.

Borussia Dortmund v Borussia Monchengladbach – 03/12/16
On Saturday afternoon this weekend in the Bundesliga we see Andre Schubert take his Borussia Monchengladbach side on the trip Westfalenstadion to face Thomas Tuchel.
The home side Borussia Dortmund head into the visit of Borussia Monchengladbach knowing that they cannot afford any more slip ups in the Bundesliga or face leaving themselves a long way behind the league leaders. After coming second yet again to Bayern last year, they will have been hoping that this season will finally see them win the title. However that is far from the case as they currently find themselves sat in 7th place in the table and already 9 points behind Red Bull Leipzig who are in first place. Their home record in the Bundesliga is second to none however as they haven’t been beaten their in the last 27 fixtures so will not want that run to end here.
Their most recent match last Saturday saw them travel to Commerzbank-Arena to face Niko Kovač’s Eintracht Frankfurt who are having a fantastic season. The hosts took the lead just a minute into the second half thanks to a wonderful finish from Szabolcs Huszti. The visitors drew level in the 77th minute through top scorer Pierre Emerick Aubameyang but just 2 minutes later Frankfurt snatched all the points curtesy of Haris Seferovic.
The away side Borussia Monchengladbach go into the trip to Borussia Dortmund hoping that they can do what nobody has done for a very long time, win at the Westfalenstadion. After their brilliant season last year which saw them finish in fourth place, nobody expected them to have had the start that they have this year. They currently find themselves sat in a very disappointing 13th place in the table and need to start picking up points ASAP if they are going to qualify for the Champions League again. They are now without a win in their last seven Bundesliga matches, with three draws and four losses from those seven. They’ve also failed to win on the road so far this season so it’s going to take something special to win here.
Their most recent game was last Saturday when they welcomed Julian Nagelsmann’s Hoffenheim side to Stadion im Borussia-Park. The hosts took the lead after 25 minutes when Mahmoud Dahoud bent a lovely effort into the bottom left corner. The visitors got themselves level in the 53rd minute thanks to Nadiem Amiri who hit a beauty of an effort from outside the area leaving the keeper no chance to earn a point for his side.
