Bundesliga Betting Preview – 19/11/16
In our Bundesliga betting preview we look at the best possible betting tips for the selected fixtures.
Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich
On Saturday evening this weekend in the Bundesliga we see Carlo Ancelotti take his Bayern Munich side on the trip to Westfalenstadion to face Thomas Tuchel’s Borussia Dortmund. This is the highest profile domestic fixture in Germany over recent years, with these sides normally battling it out plenty of times over the season due to cup finals and European competitions. When these two do meet in the Bundesliga it’s predominantly a fixture between first and second in the table, however not this year as its first versus fifth. A win here for Bayern Munich would see them stretch their lead to a substantial nine points over Dortmund.
In terms of head to head between these two German giants, Ancelotti’s boys have had the upper hand over their opponents who haven’t beaten them in their last seven meetings in all competitions. In the last three meetings at Westfalenstadion, Bayern have won two of them with the other finishing as a draw. So Dortmund will be desperate to give their supports a home victory in this huge match.
The home side Borussia Dortmund have had a bit of a shaky start to their season but they seem like they are starting to come into the sort of form that we expect from them. They are now unbeaten in their last seven in all competitions and haven’t lost at home in eight fixtures. Currently sat in fifth in the table, a win here could see them climb up to 3rd place depending on other results. Their most recent match saw them travel to struggling side Hamburger SV. It was a fairly dominant performance as they came away with a comfortable 5-2 victory. The star of the show was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who got himself a superb four goals with Ousmane Dembele getting their fifth. They’ve been dealt a blow late this week that Marco Reus is still needing extra time to return and will not feature.
The away side Bayern Munich go into the trip to Dortmund hoping that they can come away with what would be a huge three points in their quest for yet another Bundesliga title. They’ve had a slight dip in form having drawn three of their last five league ties, however they still remain unbeaten since March last season. They’ve got a new title challenger to contend with this year in the form of Red Bull Leipzig. The newly promoted side have been pumped with a ridiculous amount of money from the energy drink company and have their eyes on the title. Bayern’s most recent match saw them welcome another strong side in the form of Hoffenheim to the Allianz Arena. The visitors took the lead in the 16th minute, but Bayern levelled thanks to an own goal which ended up being the last of the match as it ended 1-1.

Wolfsburg v Schalke 04
On Saturday afternoon this weekend in the Bundesliga we see Markus Weinzierl take his Schalke 04 side on the trip to the Volkswagen Arena to face Valérien Ismaël’s Wolfsburg. These two teams have been struggling so far this season and will be desperate to come away with all three points.
The home side Wolfsburg head into the visit of Schalke hoping that they can end their inconsistent run of form in which they are going through recently. After finishing in a fairly respectable 8th place last season, they will have wanted to improve on that this year and finish in a European spot. However that has not been the case as they currently find themselves sat in 14th place with just one Bundesliga win in their last nine. The only positive from that is that the win they did get was in their most recent game so they will be hoping it is the turning point and they will begin to hit a run of form.
That match saw them travel to Schwarzwald-Stadion to face Christian Streich’s Freiburg who are sat in 9th place. It was a solid performance from Wolfsburg as they ran out with a comfortable 3-0 win. They opened the scoring just before half time when Mario Gomez headed in from a corner. Gomez got his second on the other side of the break with a calm finish when one on one. The win was confirmed in the 86th thanks to a Rodriguez penalty.
The away side Schalke 04 go into the trip to Wolfsburg hoping that they can continue their solid run of form that they are in. After finishing in a fantastic 5th place last season, it’s a bit of a surprise that they are where they are in the table. They currently find themselves sat in 12th place due to an horrific start which saw them lose their opening five matches. However now they are unbeaten in their last nine in all competitions and are beginning to climb up the table to where they belong. Out of the nine they’ve only drawn 2 of them so it shows that they are a force to be reckoned with.
Their most recent game saw them welcome Alexander Nouri’s Werder Bremen toVELTINS-Arena who have been struggling so far this year. Schalke scored two goals in the space of three minutes towards the end of the first half thanks to Schopf and Bentaleb, but the visitors pulled one back just 3 minutes later with a Serge Gnabry penalty. Schalke regained their two goals advantage when Schopf got his second in the 63rd minute to confirm the win.
