Sky Bet Championship Betting Tips!
The Championship is back underway in August and it is particularly intriguing this season with the addition of a couple of very big clubs. Newcastle United and Aston Villa will both grace English footballs second tier this term after suffering relegation from the Premier League last season and will be heavily backed for an instant return. Both have flexed their financial muscles in the off-season, Newcastle spent upwards of £20million on Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle whilst Villa forked out for Bournemouth defender Tommy Elphick. Both clubs have Champions League winning managers in Rafael Benitez and Roberto Di Matteo which further enhances their chances of promotion. Norwich City are are also amongst the favourites having being relegated last season, the Canaries always do well in the Championship and have retained most of their squad from the last time they were promoted. The bookmakers are also pricing Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County and Brighton and Hove Albion as challengers for promotion having all failed in the play-offs last season, so it looks competitive at the top.
At the other end it looks as unpredictable as ever, but the bookmakers are tipping Burton Albion, Rotherham United and Barnsley to struggle. Burton are undoubtedly the smallest club in the division but in Nigel Clough they have a manager who knows how to survive in the Championship so do not expect them to be whipping boys. Former Premier League clubs Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers are also predicted to be involved in the relegation scrap this term. Both teams have off-field problems – particularly Leeds – which could severely affect progress on the pitch and they could be in for a long season of struggle.
In a fast paced and physical league where goals are a plenty it is really wide open with a whole host of sides willing to risk big money and wage bills to get back to the promised land of the Premier League.
