Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid 7:45 KO – Live streaming available on bet365

The Vicente Calderon hosts it’s final La Liga Madrid derby as Atletico and Real lock horns. The season is only eleven games old but this is already a huge clash for Diego Simeone’s side. The hosts come into weekend six points behind their city rivals and a defeat would give them a huge mountain to climb. Atletico have been uncharacteristically sloppy in recent weeks, falling to defeats in their last two away games at Sevilla (1-0) and Real Sociedad (2-0) which has seen them drop to fifth in the table.

However at the Calderon they’ve been a different proposition – since drawing on the opening day against Alaves, Simeone’s men have gone on to win all four of their home games. We’re seeing a new side to Atletico Madrid this year, their defensive solidity has remained but going forward they’ve been sensational. Los Rojiblancos fans have seen their side hit a huge 17 goals in their last four home games and the likes of Yannick Carrasco, Kevin Gameiro and Antoine Griezmann are all flourishing this season. Griezmann is the standout threat for the hosts and he’s proven on numerous occasions he’s up there with the best forwards in the world. We’re expecting him to cause the Real backline all sorts of problems here and we’re backing him to score anytime at 7/5.

Real Madrid make the short trip across the city defending La Liga’s only unbeaten record and Zinedine Zidane will know he’ll face his toughest test of the season to date here. Los Blancos are cruising at the top of the league at the moment but they know if they drop points it could see Barcelona leap frog them at the summit of the division if they beat Malaga in the afternoon kick-off. Zizou’s side have been imperious on their travels to date, scoring goals for fun much like their opponents. Real have hit a whopping 17 goals in their five away games this season including four at Alaves before the international break.

The options Zidane has at his disposal are quite staggering and there’s plenty of personnel capable of hurting this Atletico Madrid side. He will be hoping star man Cristiano Ronaldo can return to his devastating best after struggling for form before the international break. He netted twice whilst away with Portugal and he’ll be eager to make a big statement in this clash. He hasn’t scored since 2014 against Atletico in the league and Simeone will have the likes of Diego Godin and Juanfran well drilled to deal with the 31 year-old. Ronaldo is likely to line up in attack alongside Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema. Alvaro Morata was expected to start but he’s been sidelined for a month after picking up a knock on international duty. Toni Kroos and Sergio Ramos will also be unavailable but Casemiro could make his long awaited return from injury.

This game has all the ingredients to be a classic and we’re expecting plenty of drama and entertainment. Atletico Madrid have an excellent record over Real in La Liga, with them winning both meetings last season by a 1-0 scoreline. Both of these have been scoring plenty of goals in recent weeks and we’re expecting the same here. The absence of Sergio Ramos will hit the visitors hard but they should have enough quality going forward to leave with a result. We’re backing this one to end in a draw with both teams getting on the scoresheet which is available at a big 16/5.

La Liga

Barcelona v Malaga 3:15pm KO

Saturday’s afternoon kick-off sees Malaga make the daunting trip to the Camp Nou to take on Luis Enrique’s Barcelona. The Catalonian’s begin the weekend in second position and they know a victory will see them climb to top spot for a few hours at least – with leaders Real Madrid playing on the evening. Barca are yet to really get out of second gear this season and it’s shown by some of their results. Enrique’s men have already been beaten twice this season Alaves and Celta Vigo and they do tend to be quite vulnerable against some of La Liga’s ‘smaller clubs’ on occasion.

But despite their shock results, they’re a side you simply can’t write off and the quality they have in their squad is incredible. Luis Enrique has a near full strength squad at his disposal and they’ll be eager to pick up their fifth successive victory. However there will be one absentee with Luis Suarez picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in Seville just before the international break. Paco Alcacer is likely to feature in absence of the Uruguayan and he’s made just one start since making a big money move from Valencia in the summer so he could be slightly rusty. We’re expecting Messi and Neymar to run the show here in front of a big expectant crowd at Camp Nou and we’re backing them both to score anytime (priced at 6/4). Barca have hit 13 goals in their 5 league games this season and we can see them enjoying themselves in this clash.

Malaga arrive in Catalonia as huge outsiders and their form away from La Rosaleda hardly inspires confidence. Juande Ramos’ men are yet to win on the road this season and there hasn’t been many signs in recent weeks to suggest their capable of performing an upset at the Camp Nou. Los Albicelestes have lost three of their last four away from home including a 4-2 thrashing by Atletico Madrid at the backend of October – where they were 2-0 down after just 24 minutes.

Malaga are currently sitting in tenth position and despite their patchy away form, they went into the international break on a high. Ramos’ men defeated Sporting Gijon 3-2 at La Rosaleda – with Michael Santos the hero. The 23 year-old struck the winner with just twelve minutes on the clock to give them their second win in three games. Top scorer Sandro Ramirez also got his name on the scoresheet in that one and he’ll be playing with a point to prove in Barcelona. He came through their La Masia academy but failed to breakthrough into the first team which saw him depart in the summer. He’s had a fast start to life at his new home and he’s scored five times in eleven appearances.
