Anthony Crolla Vs Jorge Linares – Betting Preview

Saturday sees what is set to be another famous night in Manchester as local lad Anthony Crolla looks to defend his WBA World Lightweight Title and claim the prestigious Ring Magazine Title as the best Lightweight on the planet as he takes on three weight World Champ Jorge Linares.

Manchester is building a name up for been a hot bed of boxing after Ricky Hattons emphatic stoppage of Kosta Tzzyu back in 2005 and it has gone on to see many incredible nights with the most recent one been Crolla claiming and defending his WBA Lightweight Belt against Darleys Perez and Ismael Barroso respectively. But his opponent this Saturday is someone who you cannot afford to overlook. World Champion at Featherweight, Super Featherweight and Lightweight, Venezuelan but Japan based Linares has gone on to build up a great reputation for been one of the best technical and all round fighters on the circuit and he poses a real threat to Man Utd season ticket holder Crolla.

As previously mentioned, Crolla goes into the fight off the back of three career best performances against Darleys Perez and Ismael Barroso. Crolla originally claimed a controversial draw in his first fight with Perez in July 2015 but in the rematch last November, he didn’t leave it to the judges as he stopped the Colombian with a killer left hook to the body. He then repeated this feat against the hard hitting Barroso with a trademark right to the body to retain his World Title and slowly start to write himself into Mancunian boxing folklore.

Linares meanwhile boats a record of 40-3 and goes into the fight off the back of seven stoppage wins in his last nine fights with his most famous stoppage in recent times coming against Kevin Mitchell at the O2 Arena in May last year, which was partly due to a huge cut over Mitchell’s left eye.

This will by far be Crolla’s toughest test to date and we expect Linares to cause him many problems, but you cannot afford to write Anthony Crolla off as he just seems to step it up another level with every fight and with Linares’s three defeats all coming by stoppage, we’re backing Crolla to make that four.
