Austria Wien v AC Milan Betting Tips & Odds

In our Austria Wien v AC Milan betting preview we look at the best possible bets between the two sides.

Overview

Italian giants AC Milan travel to Austria Wien hoping to start their European campaign with a win in this group D clash. The visitors will fancy themselves as firm favourites to win this whole competition after bringing in some incredibly impressive signings over the summer, and know that they will be the side every team wants to beat as the tournament progresses. The hosts go into this fixture as massive underdogs but have the advantage of being on home soil, so will want to make sure they take full advantage of every chance they get throughout this highly anticipated fixture.

Milan are currently favourites to lift the trophy this season.

The home side are unbeaten in the league so far

Austria Wien have had a hugely impressive start to their domestic campaign, they’ve picked up 11 points from a possible 15 since the season began for them back in early August and currently sit fourth in the Austrian Bundesliga. They’ve also got some Europa League minutes under their belts already after beating Croatian outfit Osijek over two legs last month in the first round play off’s. It wasn’t easy for them however, as they had to rely on away goals to send them through after losing 1-0 at home in the second leg.

The hosts were held 2-2 in their last league game on Saturday to fifth place Wolfsberg, after going 1-0 down after 23 minutes, a rare goal from right full back Florian Klein on the stroke of half time ensured the home side went into the break on a level playing field. It looked as though Wien were going to snatch all 3 points aswell, after midfielder Raphael Holzhauser found the net just before the hour mark, but football’s a cruel game and when Wolfsberg substitute Dever Orgill found himself in a little bit of space on the 92nd minute, he made no mistake and rescued a point for the visitors.

Austria Wien go into this tie unbeaten in the league.

Big spenders Milan will want to assert their dominance straight away

AC Milan have been extremely busy in the transfer market this summer, they have spent a lot of money by bringing in some excellent personnel with a wealth of experience in Europe’s most elite competitions. Former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci will improve their defence immensely, whilst Andre Silva’s arrival from Porto will provide them with yet more attacking threat and play havoc with opposition defences all season. The 21 year old Portuguese international bagged 16 league goals last season, and will have to be in similar form this time out if he is to justify his £34 million price tag.

Vincenzo Montella took his side to Lazio in their last league outing on Sunday, but things didn’t go quite to plan for the Rossoneri as they were stuffed 4-1 thanks to an impressive hattrick from free scoring opposition striker Circo Immobile. Before that drubbing though, the visitors had won their previous 2 games in Serie A, beating Cagliari 2-1 a fortnight ago and Crotone 3-0 the week before that. They can also take great confidence from their Europa League qualifying matches against Macedonian side Shkëndija and Romanian outfit Universitatea Craiova, where they cruised to 7-0 and 2-0 victories respectively.

The Italian’s have bought in a wealth of experience this summer.

Odds

We can see there being goals in this game, Milan have a flurry of quality going forward and have spent a lot of money on creative players who specialise in creating opportunities out of nothing, PaddyPower are offering a huge 5/1 for summer signing Andre Silva to bag the opener! Austria Wien have only managed to keep one clean sheet since the season started at the start of last month, they’re shaky at the back and will be punished by the Italian’s if they let their concentration slip even a little in this tie, so we reckon over 2.5 goals could be a great shout! Get on it at 4/6 with SkyBet.
