Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund Betting Tips & Odds – 31/03/18

In our Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund betting preview we look at the best possible bets between the two sides.

Saturday’s 17:30 kick off in the Bundesliga sees two of the German powerhouses face off. Bayern Munich will host Borussia Dortmund in what is expected to be a tight affair. Bayern Munich are seventeen points clear at the top of the table, with no team mounting a real challenge this year. With the League all but wrapped up their attention now turns to the Champions League. However, they will not want to be beaten by long term rivals Dortmund. Dortmund were the likely challengers for the title this season after being top after seven games, they have dropped off since then. Now unbeaten in twelve Dortmund are back to their best. This fixture over the years has been high scoring with BTTS expected.

Bayern Munich will want to get back to winning ways

The Bundesliga leaders, Bayern Munich, are set for their twenty-eighth title and are still involved in a possible treble, still in the DFB Pokal and Champions League. However, Bayern failed to impress during the beginning of the season with some poor displays in the Champions League. This subsequently led to the departure of Carlo Ancelotti and the re-appointment of Jupp Heynckes until the end of the season. Jupp Heynckes last spell at the club was a treble winning year and will be looking to repeat that feat. This Bayern side have not lost at home in the League for 35 games a run going back to 2016. Dortmund are in good form and will be a threat to Bayern’s impressive record at home.

Bayern lost 2-1 to RB Leipzig before the teams broke up for the international break, this ended a run of  thirteen game unbeaten run. With a long time to think about the loss Jupp Heynckes side will want to come straight out of the blocks as they try to avoid two defeats on the bounce. They’ve not lost two League games in a row since 2015. With one of the best strikers in the world, Robert Lewandowski, in the side they are always going to be a dangerous side. Dortmund is Lewandowski’s former club and will want to get one over his former teammates. Bayern are already in a good run of form despite a recent defeat, they will want to continue that as they look to continue their momentum into the Champions League.

Jupp Heynckes

Dortmund looking to extend their unbeaten run

Borussia Dortmund started the season off very well winning six of their opening seven games. However, this did not last and their form turned, they failed to win any of their next eight which cost Peter Bosz his job. The vacant manager’s position was taken up by Peter Stoger. Stoger has got Dortmund playing at their best again. Since his appointment Dortmund have gone twelve games unbeaten in the League. Despite Stoger’s turn around in the Bundesliga it hasn’t translated into their form in Europe, recently getting knocked out in the Europa League by Swiss side Salzburg. They still have a fight on their hands to secure Champions League football for next season with five teams still in the fight for the remaining three spaces.

Borussia Dortmund took a big hit to their hopes of Champions League football next season with club top goalscorer Pierre Emerick Aubameyang leaving for Arsenal during the January transfer window. However, they managed to bring in out of favour Chelsea striker, Michy Batshuayi, on loan for the rest of the season. Batshuayi has picked up where Aubameyang left off, scoring six in seven appearances in the League. Dortmund have always been a team that create a lot of goalscoring opportunities and Batshuayi is reaping the rewards. However, they do leave themselves exposed at the back at times, this has promoted goalkepper ,Roman Burki, to put in some fantastics performances. Burki will have to continue his fine form for Dortmund to get anything from this game.

Dortmund will hope they can continue their unbeaten run against a strong Bayern side
