In our NFL Betting Tips preview we look ahead to the Thanksgiving matches and give our predictions and betting tips.
Minnisota Vikings @ Detroit Lions – 5.30pm Thursday
Live on Freeview Channel 11 & Sky Sports 1
This NFC North match-up carries extra importance for both sides as the two are currently tied for first place in the conference with identical 6-4 records. The franchises have already clashed once this season when the Lions clinched a dramatic 22-16 overtime victory, one of six final quarter victories Detroit have completed this season. Much of the Vikings success this season has depended on their ability to apply pressure on the opposition quarterback. The stats back this up as in their four defeats they only had three sacks while in their six wins they have an astonishing twenty three. Lions quarterback Matt Stafford and the offensive linemen will all be aware of this and will have spent much of the time in the run up to the game working on preventing the Vikings pass rushers getting to him. Both defences have been rock solid this season and this game looks set to be a low scoring affair decided by one score so the game will likely be decided by which quarterback looks after the ball the best and we’re backng Matthew Stafford to have a strong day in the pocket for the Lions.

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys – 9.30pm Thursday
Live on Sky Sports 1
The last time these two sides met was in gameweek two of this season and the Cowboys were looking for their first win of the season. The Cowboys went on to win that match 27-23 and have now won nine games in a row, an astonishing feat for a team that won just four games in the whole of 2015. Rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot have been nothing short of sensational for America’s Team with both players’ names firmly in the conversation for MVP and along with Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley and the best offensive line in the league, the Cowboys have been unstoppable since their first victory. However, the Redskins are certainly capable of upsetting their divisional rivals on Turkey Day especially with an in-form Kirk Cousins at the helm in the pocket. The third year quarterback has thrown seventeen touchdowns and earnt a passer rating north of 95. But even if Cousins has the game of a lifetime the Redskins run defence will cost them the game. They are ranked 30th against the run and are going up against the best running back in the NFL in Ezekiel Elliot and he could well fill his boots in this one and add to his 1,202 rush yards and nine touchdowns whilst leading the Cowboys win number ten.
