Brighton v Tottenham Betting Tips & Odds

In our Brighton v Tottenham betting preview we look at the best possible bets between the two sides.

Overview

Tottenham make the short trip down to the south coast to face Brighton on Tuesday night. Tottenham don’t have a lot left to play for in the Premier League, seven points above Chelsea they should easily finish inside the top four. They’re still in the FA Cup and that will become their main focus as they try to win their first trophy under Mauricio Pochettino. However, it’s not likely Tottenham will take this game lightly with striker Harry Kane desperate to win the golden boot, Tottenham will want to score a lot of goals. Brighton are on the verge of securing safety, they have a healthy seven point gap between themselves and the relegation zone. However, they will want to get a few more points to cement their place in the Premier League for next season.

Brighton have been strong at home

Chris Hughton’s Brighton side are in their first ever Premier League campaign. Avoiding relegation would have been their aim at the start of the season and they look set to achieve that. They’re currently seven points above the relegation zone and thirteenth in the table. However, with some tough games still to come they will be looking to make their home games count to cement a place in the Premier League for next season. It is their impressive home form that has got them in the position they’re in now, only losing four games at the Amex all 17/18. Chris Hughton has made his team very hard to beat at home and will be looking to come away with some points against a Tottenham team with one eye on the FA Cup.

Experienced striker Glenn Murray, 34, has been the main goal threat for Brighton all season. He is their top goal scorer with twelve goals so far. He has been in good form in 2018 scoring seven goals. However, he hasn’t scored at the Amex in his last two, only failing to score there in three consecutive games once this year it wouldn’t be a surprise if he manages to nick one against this Tottenham side. With the likes of Pascal Gross and Izquierdo providing crosses for him he will have the opportunities to do so. Despite their good results at home they rarely keep clean sheets, with only three there all season. This being said Brighton may look to play more defensively to keep out this Tottenham side.

Tottenham looking for goals

Tottenham have had another good season, they look set for another top four finish and will have a third consecutive campaign in the Champions League. However, this impressive Tottenham side are still yet to win a trophy. After having a good run in the Champions League, going out in the last sixteen to Juventus, it can be argued this Tottenham side have made another step in the right direction. They’re still in the FA Cup, with their semi-final against Manchester United coming up on the weekend. Mauricio Pochettino will likely have one eye on that fixture when selecting his starting eleven for the game against Brighton. Spurs lost last time out against Premier League Champions Manchester City, they haven’t lost two games in a row all season and will not want to start here.

One player who looks set to start this game is Harry Kane. Harry Kane appears to be desperate to win this years golden boot, currently five goals behind Mohamed Salah he has a lot of ground to make up. At the end of last season he managed to score seven in his last two games, so is very capable. However, the main threat for Tottenham at the moment isn’t Harry Kane, its Christian Eriksen. In Tottenham’s last six away games Eriksen has scored five and provided three assists and will be a big danger for Brighton. Defensively Tottenham have struggled of late, a breakdown in contract talks with Toby Alderweireld has resulted in him being left out of the starting eleven for the majority of the season and has been missed. With only one clean sheet in Tottenham’s last five games away from home BTTS could be a good bet, best priced at 10/11 with betfair.
