Burnley v Manchester United Betting Preview

In our Burnley v Manchester United betting preview we look at the best possible bets between the two sides.

Sean Dyche’s Burnley welcome Manchester United to Turf Moor looking to climb closer to that all important forty point mark. As it stands The Clarets have accumulated thirty six points and they have an excellent chance of staying up, but their form has gone off the boil in recent weeks. One win from their last ten has seen the sides below make up some ground on them and they’ll be eager to get back to winning ways here. The visitors make the short trip to Lancashire with the top four in sight and Jose Mourinho knows just how important three points would be here. This is The Red Devils’ third game in seven days and they come into it on a high after beating Chelsea (2-0) & Anderlecht (2-1) on Thursday night to secure their place in the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Only four teams have won more home games in the Premier League than Burnley

It’s been an excellent return to the Premier League for Burnley and Sean Dyche. When their promotion from the Championship was confirmed twelve months ago they were immediately made one of the favourites for the drop, but they’ve returned a stronger outfit & learned lessons from their previous stint. They’ve already picked up three more points than they managed for the entirety of their previous campaign in the top flight and they’re a side no one enjoys facing – particularly at Turf Moor. Dyche has really made their home a fortress and it’s been the backbone to their success this season – picking up 32 of their 36 points in front of their own supporters.

They’ve got positive results against the likes of Chelsea (1-1), Everton (2-1) & Liverpool (2-0) this season which shows how tough a place it is to go and Manchester United will have to work very hard here if they’re to get anything. But despite those positives, they have come unstuck over the last few weeks and they’re under a bit of pressure to get back on track. One win in ten has halted their progress slightly and they wouldn’t have been helped by the news that came out on Thursday about star man Michael Keane wanting to leave Turf Moor. His former club Manchester United are one of his rumoured suitors and it’s going to be interesting to see how he performs following all the speculation.

Sean Dyche will be concerned with Burnley’s current run of form

Twenty two league games without defeat for Manchester United

The visitors make the short trip across Lancashire with much bigger aspirations and a win here would be huge for their Champions League aspirations. As it stands The Red Devils are four points behind their city rivals who occupy fourth position and they know if they win all of their seven remaining games they’ll finish above them. Jose Mourinho’s men don’t have the best of run-ins, with games against City, Arsenal & Tottenham all to come over the next few weeks so every point is going to be vital, starting here. And despite facing a side as strong as Burnley, he’ll fancy his chances of getting a recent. His side are on the divisions longest unbeaten run of 22 games which shows just how tough they are to stop. But frustratingly for United fans the majority of those games have ended in draws.

No sides has been held more times than Manchester United (12) in the Premier League and one of those came against Burnley in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford back in October. The Red Devils have a packed fixture schedule at the moment and it came to a head slightly on Thursday night when they lost Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to injury during their Europa League victory over Anderlecht. They’ll be without the pair here but one boost for Mourinho has been the form of teenage sensation Marcus Rashford. The 19 year-old has been on fire over the last few weeks, being involved in four goals in his last four appearances and we can see his pace causing the Burnley back four all kinds of problems here.
