Carlisle v Yeovil Betting Tips & Odds

In our Carlisle v Yeovil betting preview we look at the best possible bets between the two sides.

Yeovil make the monstrous 650 mile round trip to Carlisle this Saturday in SkyBet League Two. Both of these sides have endured challenging starts to their campaigns since the season kicked off back in August and now find themselves in the wrong half of the table as we edge closer to Christmas. The hosts are without a win in the league in their last three outings, while their opponents for this clash are unbeaten in their last two league matches, and also came out impressive 1-0 victors against League One Southend in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Carlisle 16th after five wins from 16

The hosts sit 16th in League Two having won just five games out of their first sixteen. The Cumbrian’s have lost six and drawn five so far this term, summing up a pretty lifeless campaign at Brunton Park. Three of those five draws mentioned above have come throughout October against Wycombe, Notts County and basement dwellers Chesterfield, so they’re in desperate need of a win to start building some momentum they can use to claw themselves into the top half of the table.

A 3-2 win over League One side Oldham in the FA Cup on Saturday would have sparked some belief in the Carlisle camp heading into this clash, but that result was followed by a disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Fleetwood in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night. A heavily changed side to that of which stole the points at Boundary Park on Saturday were undone by a well drilled Fleetwood side, going two goals down within the first 45 minutes courtesy of Jack Sowerby and Wes Burns. Shaun Miller did manage to claw one back for The Blues in the dying minutes, but it wasn’t enough to see Carlisle through to the next round, and they now exit the competition.

Keith Curle’s men have drawn their last three league games.

Glovers unbeaten in four

The visitors go into this fixture on the back of three wins and one draw in their last four games in all competitions. Last weekend Yeovil hosted League One side Southend United in the FA Cup second round, and in a result that shocked most people, came out 1-0 winners thanks to a cooly converted penalty from Otis Khan in the first half an hour. Before that clash, Darren Way’s men beat Stevenage 3-0 at home thanks to a well taken brace from Bournemouth loanee Sam Surridge and solo effort from leading goalscorer Olufela Olomola. These positive results will no doubt work wonders for morale in the Yeovil camp, and means they head north for this encounter full of confidence and belief that they can clinch all three points.

The visitors could leapfrog their opponents with a win here, just a point separates the two in the table, so they’ll be well aware of this factor when they take to the field on Saturday afternoon. A loss however, could see Yeovil drop to as low as 19th, providing Crawley or Crewe get anything out of their respective fixtures this weekend. Southampton loaneeΒ Olufela Olomola is definitely the danger man for the visitors here, the 20 year old powerhouse has seven league goals to his name this time out, and won’t think twice about adding to that impressive tally here against a Carlisle defence who have shipped 23 goals already this season.

Yeovil have won their last three in all competitions.

With both sides being so close to one and other in the league table, this game promises to be a tight affair. Carlisle currently sit just a point ahead of Yeovil in the table, so could distance themselves from the Glovers with a win here. A loss however, would see Yeovil move above them and drag them further towards the dreaded drop zone. If you can see the hosts coming away with the spoils here, you can get them priced at 4/5 with SkyBet. A rare win for the visitors is priced at 3/1 with BetBright, while the points to be shared is priced at 13/5 with Ladbrokes.
