Chelsea v Manchester United

Chelsea v Manchester United Betting Preview

In our Chelsea v Manchester United betting preview we look at the best possible bets between the two sides.

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge in a mouth watering tie in The FA Cup sixth round. The hosts are enjoying a magnificent season with them running away with the Premier League title at the moment and they’ll be eager to carry that form through into the cup. They’re unbeaten in their last ten (winning eight) and they’ll fancy their chances of making it through to Wembley. Jose Mourinho makes the trip back to his old stomping ground seventeen points behind The Blues in the Premier League but you can’t write off this United side. They’re in great form themselves losing just one of their previous twenty eight league games and they’ll make life tough for Chelsea.

Chelsea on for the double?

It’s been an incredible start to life in the Premier League for Antonio Conte since taking over Chelsea in the summer. The Italian has sparked a remarkable turnaround in the clubs fortunes, transforming them from a side that finished in tenth last term to potential champions. The 3-5-2 system he’s implemented has seen Chelsea become incredibly hard to beat and it’s going to be interesting to see how Mourinho sets up his Manchester United side to stop them. The Blues ran riot in this fixture earlier on in the season which saw them thrash United 4-0 on an embarrassing afternoon at Stamford Bridge for their former boss and he’ll be desperate to inflict some revenge.

Chelsea come into this clash fresh from picking up a vital three points in the Premier League on Monday night against West Ham. Goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa sealed a clinical 2-1 victory at the London Stadium and they’ll be eager to back it up here. Hazard really impressed with his energy and pace on the counter attack and we’re expecting him to do some real damage here. In eleven games against United he’s contributed five goals, with his side losing on just one occasion and we’re backing him to net here (9/4). We’re backing the Belgian to inspire his side to victory and their recent form backs that up, with The Blues winning each of their previous twelve home games.

Mourinho hoping for a successful return to Stamford Bridge

Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge for the second time this season and he’ll be hoping that it runs a little more smoothly this time, after being battered 4-0 last time. It was an afternoon to forget for The Red Devils but they’re a completely different side now, they’re capable of scoring goals and they’ve sharpened up defensively – so we’re not expecting Chelsea to run away with it like last time. United have lost just twice since that defeat in late October and they’re looking to end the season on a big high. They won the EFL Cup a fortnight ago and they’re also in the last sixteen of the Europa League, so it could end up being a year to remember for their supporters.

The visitors have had significantly less time to prepare for this clash after being in action on Thursday. They made the 3750 mile round trip to Rostov for a Europa League clash, which saw them end the ninety minutes with a 1-1 draw. Mourinho named a rotated side mainly to cope with the tricky conditions and he also played a new system with three at the back – planning for this game possibly? Jet lag could be a disadvantage here for them and they’re also missing their star player in Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The 35 year-old picked up a three game suspension for elbowing Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings and he’ll be a big miss. United will still pose a strong goal threat but we’re struggling to see them winning this one, we’re backing The Blues to win this with one with both sides getting on the scoresheet.
