Five Fantasy Football bargains for 2019-20

Potential Fantasy Football bargains for next season

The 2019/20 Premier League season is just around the corner which means one thing, it's time to start thinking about your Fantasy Football team.

Fans of the game will be trying to come up with witty team names and more importantly which players they will be including in their squads.

Most will be adding the household names to their team, with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling all likely to be as popular as ever.

But often the difference between winning and losing on Fantasy Football is finding those hidden gems. The players that won't cost you too much and that most other people playing the game do not pick.

We have taken a look at the Fantasy Hub app and picked out five potential bargains ahead of the new season that you should consider signing for your team.

Matt Doherty (£6.1m)

Up first is a player who did extremely well last year, but is still a relatively cheap option on the Fantasy Hub this season - Matt Doherty.

The Wolves right-back enjoyed an outstanding first season in the Premier League in 2018/19, helping the West Midlands side keep eight clean sheets.

But it was his attacking returns that made him such a valuable Fantasy Football asset, with the Irishman helping himself to four league goals and five assists in his 38 appearances.

Despite such an impressive showing, he is still only priced at £6.1m on the game. That represents great value considering there are 25 other defenders with a bigger price, most of whom got nowhere near the attacking returns Doherty managed last season.

Shane Duffy (£5.8m)

Another defender who looks an absolute bargain on the Fantasy Hub this season is Brighton & Hove Albion's Shane Duffy.

Last season the Irishman managed to net five goals despite being a centre-back, making him the highest scoring defender in the Premier League.

He also helped the Seagulls keep a respectable seven clean sheets, and at just £5.8m we think that he represents great value for money, particularly given that two of their opening three matches are at home against West Ham United and Southampton.

Shane Duffy is a Fantasy Football favourite due to his ability to score goals.

Dwight McNeil (£5.4m)

After making his Burnley breakthrough midway through last season, we are expecting big things from Dwight McNeil this season.

Despite playing just 21 games the 19-year-old still managed eight goal involvements last term (three goals, five assists) for Sean Dyche's side and was instrumental in their turnaround in form.

Having now established himself in the first team combined with the fact that he is still only young, McNeil should show improvement this season and he will cost you a meagre £5.4m to add to your Fantasy Football team.

He is very much a traditional left winger who likes to stay out wide and get crosses into the box. This makes him perfect for Burnley who have big centre forwards such as Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes to attack those balls in the box and turn them into goals, he is surely guaranteed to pick up plenty of assist points.

Oliver Norwood (£5.9m)

Another cheaper midfield option we think is worth looking at is Sheffield United playmaker Oliver Norwood.

The Northern Ireland international was an integral part of the Blades team which won promotion from the Championship lasts season, picking up eight assists and contributing three goals despite playing in a deeper position.

Added to that, Norwood also created more chances than any player for any of the three promoted clubs last season (97). That means he statistically was more creative than the likes of Jack Grealish, Emiliano Buendia and Onel Hernandez.

A big reason for the amount of chances Norwood creates is the fact that he is a regular set piece taker for the Blades, and his pin point accuracy leads to plenty of attempts on goal. He is likely to continue as their free-kick and corner taker this season, and at just £5.9m he is well worth considering.

Teemu Pukki (£6.2m)

Looking in the striking department, we think that Norwich City's talisman Teemu Pukki offers great value.

The Finland international will be playing in the Premier League for the first time in his career, but is coming into it on the back an outstanding season in the Championship.

Indeed the 29-year-old netted 29 times in just 43 appearances last season which made him the leading goalscorer in the second tier. Added to that he also contributed with nine assists, meaning 38 goal involvements in total.

Obviously there will be question marks about whether or not he can make the step up, but with a price of just £6.2m he is surely worth a gamble early on.
