Juventus v Tottenham Betting Tips & Odds

In our Juventus v Tottenham betting preview we look at what could possibly be the best bets between the two sides.

This week see’s the return of the Champions League with Juventus hosting Tottenham in their all important first leg knockout tie. Both of these sides have displayed positive form in this competition this season, so it’s going to be really interesting to see how this game pans out. Tottenham came out unlikely Group H winners when they beat both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to top spot so head into this fixture brimming with confidence. Juventus had to settle for second place in Group D, ultimately falling short to Spanish giants Barcelona by a mere three points.

Tottenham travel to Italy to take on last years finalists Juventus this Tuesday.

Last years finalists hungry for the trophy

Juventus reached the final of the Champions League last season when they were beaten 4-1 by Real Madrid. They’ll be looking to go one step further this time out and lift the trophy for the third time in their history but know it’s going to be a hugely difficult challenge considering who they have to overcome here. The Italian’s are always one of the strongest sides in the Champions League and this season it’s no different. With the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Paul Dybala and Mario Mandžukić in attack, Massimiliano Allegri’s men carry such a threat going forward. Supported by the likes of former Real Madrid anchorman Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic and Blaise Matuidi in midfield, they’ll be extremely difficult to break down in the middle of the park. Defensively Juventus have potentially the strongest centre half pairing in Europe, Giorgio Chiellini and Medhi Benatia have conceded just 15 goals in 24 league games in Serie A this season with the help of veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon so will be so hard for Tottenham to get past in this tie.

The hosts are unbeaten in their last eleven league matches and head into this game on the back of an astonishing eight straight wins. They’ve also managed to keep nine clean sheets in their last ten league games and haven’t lost on home soil since the 14th October, when they were beaten 2-1 by Lazio. All of these factors make Juventus the favourites for this clash, however their main objective will be to just keep a clean sheet here to prevent Tottenham scoring an away goal. They’ve got so much pace in the wide areas so will also look to hit Spurs on the counter attack here. 30-year-old front man Gonzalo Higuain is so lethal in and around the box that if they can supply him with the chances there’s no doubt he’ll convert them. Backing the Argentine to score FIRST in this fixture is priced at odds of 4/1 with PaddyPower and we think that could be a good bet here!

Spurs looking strong this time out

Tottenham will feel quietly confident about their chances of victory in this clash over the two legs. On paper it looks as though they’ll have their work cut out, but after their performances in the group stages they’ll feel as though they’re more than capable of getting something here. With arguably the best striker in world football at their disposal in the form of Harry Kane, Tottenham will definitely carry a huge threat to the Italians in this clash. Kane has 33 goals to his name in all competitions this term, with five of those goals coming in the Champions League. He won’t think twice about adding to that incredibly impressive tally here, but will be well aware of just how hard it’s going to be to break down that rock solid Juventus back line. The England front man is currently priced at odds of 5/1 to score FIRST in this match, which could be a good shout if you fancy a bet on the away side here.

The visitors travel to Italy full of confidence following their recent 1-0 win over fierce North London rivals Arsenal on Saturday. A Harry Kane header in the 49th minute secured all three points for Tottenham at Wembley, so they’ll carry some fantastic momentum into this tie at the Allianz Stadium. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been hugely impressive away from home this season, they’ve only lost one game in their last twelve on the road this time out so could well cause an upset here. If Spurs can just nick a single goal in this tie they’ll put themselves in a really promising position for the second leg back at Wembley in a fortnight’s time. An away goal would really put them in the driving seat ahead of that return leg on the 7th March, but will they be able to break down that titanium Juventus back line in this clash? That remains to be seen.
