Lazio v AC Milan Betting Tips & Odds

In our Lazio v AC Milan betting preview we look at the best possible bets between the two sides.

Simeone Inzaghi’s Lazio welcome AC Milan to the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night for a huge Coppa Italia semi-final second leg. These two sides played out a goalless draw at the San Siro three weeks ago which has set this one up nicely and they’ll both be desperate to book their place in the final in May. The hosts come into it as favourites due to home advantage and they’ll fancy their chances of making the final for a second successive season. They’ve won each of their previous three games in all competitions and they’re full of confidence at the moment. The visitors however are one of Italy’s in-form sides at the moment with Gennaro Gattuso making a huge impact since arriving in Milan back in November. AC are on a twelve game unbeaten run so it should make for a very entertaining game in the capital.

Lazio eyeing up their second successive final appearance

It’s been a another season of progress for Lazio under former player Simeone Inzaghi, with the 41 year-old developing the Eagles into one of the most exciting sides in Europe. They’re currently up in third position in Serie A at the moment and they have an excellent chance of securing Champions League football for the first time since 2008. Their entertaining brand of attacking football has seen them net a league high total of 64 goals this season, more than both Napoli (55) and Juventus (62) which shows just how much of a force they are going forward. Ciro Immobile has played a large part in that with him weighing in with a huge 32 goals in all competitions, making him one of the most feared strikers on the continent at the moment.

Lazio come into this clash as favourites and it’s not hard to see why when you see their current form, with them winning their last three games – scoring ten goals in the process. They were last in action on Sunday when they recorded a comprehensive victory away to Sassuolo, with goals from Immobile (2) and in-demand midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic doing the business. Now back on home soil they’ll know they’re in for a real tough test against Milan but they’ve proven that they’re a real force at the Stadio Olimpico. They’ve been victorious in seven of their last eight outings there in all competitions but this will definitely be one of their toughest tests so far.

Gattuso’s Milan continue to impress

Making the trip to the Italian capital are Gennaro Gattuso’s AC Milan who’re absolutely flying at the moment. The Rossoneri had been one of the biggest disappointments of the campaign after spending some huge sums of money last summer, but the appointment of Gattuso to replace the sacked Vincenzo Montella has sparked an incredible turnaround in fortunes. It took a little while to find their way under the Milan hero, but now they’re on a solid twelve game unbeaten run and starting to deliver the kind of performances and results that we came to expect after their spending spree. They’re scoring goals but more importantly they’re defending incredibly well, with them keeping clean sheets in eight of those twelve games.

They were also in action on Sunday like their opponents here, picking up one of their best results of the season at Wednesday nights venue, the Stadio Olimpico. They were taking on Roma who have Champions League aspirations and left the capital with a hugely impressive 2-0 victory. Goals from academy graduates Patrick Cutrone and Davide Calabria were enough for them to leave with all three points and give them a huge confidence boost coming into this one. Lazio’s home form is very impressive but the way that AC Milan are playing at the moment they will fancy their chances of making it through to the final. It’s going to be a real close game which we can see potentially going all the way, but with the way Milan are playing under Gattuso at the moment we think they have what it takes to book their place in May’s final.
