Manchester United v Tottenham Betting Tips & Odds

In our Manchester United v Tottenham betting preview we look at what could possibly be the best bets between the two sides.

This weekend sees Manchester United take on Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley in a match that promises to be packed full of action. Tottenham head into this fixture with a slight advantage after spending the whole of this season playing their home games at Wembley, but will know what a huge threat United possess with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba all desperate to win some silverware this season after missing out on the league title to rivals Manchester City.

Kieran Trippier Spurs

Tottenham have the advantage here considering they’ve played at Wembley all season.

One loss in five for Mourinho’s men

Manchester United will go into this fixture with some good momentum after winning 4 of their previous 5 matches in all competitions. Jose Mourinho’s side were embarrassed by West Brom last Sunday when they lost 1-0 to the basement dwellers on home soil, but bounced back perfectly midweek when they comfortably beat Bournemouth 2-0 away from home thanks to goals from Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku. They’ll take plenty of confidence into this game following that win at the Vitality Stadium, especially considering they rested some of their big hitters. Alexis Sanchez, Ashley Young, Nemanja Matic and Antonio Valencia were all left out of the starting line-up against the Cherries, so they’ll be fresh and raring to go for this huge clash with Spurs on Saturday evening.

United have had a mixed bag of results against Tottenham in the league this season. Back in October they beat Mauricio Pochettino’s men 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to a late striker from Anthony Martial, but were defeated 2-0 by the North Londoners when the two sides met in the reverse fixture at Wembley in January. Belgian front man Romelu Lukaku will be the biggest threat for United here, the 24-year-old has bagged 4 goals in his last 7 games for the Red Devils, and is their highest scorer this term with 26 goals (all competitions). Lukaku is priced at odds of 5/2 to score anytime with Betfair, and we think that could be a really good bet here at some very favourable odds!

Ashley Young

Jose Mourinho rested some of his key players against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Spurs with the home advantage

Tottenham don’t have to travel and inch for this fixture, their makeshift home has been Wembley all season so they’re completely accustomed to playing at the iconic venue. This will definitely work in their favour against United, especially considering just how well they’ve performed at the 90,000 seater stadium this term. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have lost just two league games at home since the season started last summer, unbeaten in their previous 14 games prior to the 3-1 loss they suffered against Manchester City last weekend. However after losing to Pep Guardiola’s title winners and then drawing with Chris Hughton’s Brighton on Tuesday night, Spurs don’t take a great deal of confidence into this fixture. They’ll know that Jose Mourinho will line up so defensively to ensure his team don’t concede, instead opting to grind Tottenham down and nick a goal in the latter stages of the game. An early goal would completely change the whole dynamic of the match though, just like it did when the two sides met back in January and Christian Eriksen scored in the first minute of the game.

Harry Kane has scored 4 goals in Tottenham’s 6 FA Cup games this season. The 24-year-old England international has yet again been on fire for Spurs this term, netting 37 goals in all competitions and will definitely be looking to add to that impressive tally here. Kane is priced at odds of 7/2 to net first in this clash with Betfair, and we think that could be a decent selection here if you fancy a dabble on a FGS market.

Mauricio Pochettino Spurs

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have lost just two league games at Wembley this season.
