Miami v Cincinnati Betting Tips and Odds

In our Miami v Cincinnati betting preview we look at the best possible betting tips between the two sides.

In the early hours of Thursday morning this week in the US Open Cup Quarter-Final we see Alan Koch take his Cincinnati side of the United Soccer League on the trip to the Riccardo Silva Stadium to face Alessandro Nesta’s Miami of  the North American Soccer League. These two sides are the only teams left who do not ply their trade in the MLS. This therefore means that no matter what happens, a team form the second tier of United States football league system will be in the semi-final.

This is the first ever meeting between these two clubs who will be desperate to have just ninety minutes between them and the US Open Cup Final by winning here. They are both having decent seasons in their respective divisions, Miami more so than Cincinnati. However they will both fancy their chances of progressing here.

Miami are coached by the one and only Nesta

Will their dream season continue?

The home side Miami head into the visit of Cincinnati knowing that they are favourites to go through here. They were only founded last season where they finished in seventh place overall in the NASL. In this competition they only made it to the third round where they were eliminated by Wilmington Hammerheads. However this year they look like they mean serious business. They currently find themselves sat at the summit of the NASL in top spot. Seven points clear of San Francisco in second place and ten clear of Jacksonville Armada in third. They are on a seriously impressive run of form, they’ve lost just once in their last sixteen matches in all competitions. Not only that but they have won thirteen of those sixteen. Unbeaten in their last ten home fixtures, they are looking to make it six wins on the bounce here.

Their most recent match will see them go into this one full of confidence. In the early hours of Sunday morning they welcomed Marc Dos Santos’ San Francisco Deltas who sit in second place in the table, to the Riccardo Silva Stadium. It was their greatest performance of the season as the hosts ran away with a convincing 7-0 victory. The star of the show had to be Brazilian forward Stefano. He claimed himself the match ball with four goals to his name. This meant that they were crowned champions of the Spring Season Trophy.

Miami lift the trophy at the weekend

Can they do it?

The away side Cincinnati go into the trip to Miami knowing it’s going to take a seriously strong performance for them to come out on top here but they will fancy their chances to continue their superb cup run. In this competition last year they were also knocked out in the third round when they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Tampa Bay Rowdies. After last seasons impressive third place finish, they look like they are in line for a similar sort of position this time round. The current situation sees them sat in sixth place in the Eastern Conference of the USL. However just five points separate just second place to seventh. Looking at their away form it doesn’t fill you with much confidence that they are going to progress through. They haven’t won once in their last six fixtures on the road. On the other hand, in cup competitions such as this anything can happen. But with two MLS scalps under their belt in the form of Columbus Crew and Chicago Fire.

Their most recent match was in the early hours of Sunday morning when they welcomed Leigh Cowlishaw’s Richmond Kickers to the Nippert Stadium. A Djiby Fall goal just three minutes in and then a penalty from Aodhan Quinn in the dying minutes saw them come away two nil winners against the bottom of the table visitors. They will know that they will have to perform better than that here if they are to progress through to the semi-final.
