QUIZ: Name the teams top & bottom of the Premier League at Easter

QUIZ: Name the teams top & bottom of the Premier League at Easter

Can you name the teams top & bottom of the PL going into the Easter?

Easter is always a key period in the football season in England with plenty of points up for grabs due to the busy schedule. In a lot of cases where you are at Christmas can be where you finish up at the end of the season – whether it’s at the top or at the bottom. However their has been a couple of cases in recent years where teams in top spot at Easter, have not gone on to win the title. One of the most famous ones being in in 2011/12 season when Manchester United were cruising at the top, eight points clear. But their arch rivals Manchester City came from nowhere, winning the league with one of the most iconic ever footballing moments. Famous by the “Agueroooooooo” commentary from Martin Tyler.

This year the league leaders Chelsea (free answer) are seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the table. Antonio Conte is working wonders in his first season in England and it looks very unlikely that they won’t be crowned champions.

At the other end of the table, quite a few of the teams who were bottom of the table at Easter have somehow gone on to survive and maintain their Premier League status. The most recent team who survived the drop after being bottom of the table at Easter, went on to win the league the following season. The first time this has ever happened since the forming of the Premier League. However looking at the current table, the Black Cats are ten points adrift of safety. And their chances of staying up never mind going on to win the league next year look near on impossible.

So we thought it would be a good idea to test your knowledge on some of the teams who have been involved in the top flight since it changed to the Premier League back in 1992. You’ve got 5 minutes to see if you can name all the teams who were top & bottom of the Premier League going into the Easter weekend. Have a go and tweet in your scores into us @footyaccums!
