Rotherham v Portsmouth Betting Tips & Odds

In our Rotherham v Portsmouth betting preview we look at what could possibly be the best bets between the two sides.

Overview

Portsmouth travel to Rotherham for this League One encounter on Saturday. Kenny Jackett’s men have taken just one point from four in their previous two matches so will be looking to get back to winning ways here, while Rotherham aim to chase down a spot in the play-off’s. The Millers currently sit two points behind sixth placed Charlton, so could end the weekend in the top six with a win should results elsewhere work in their favour on Saturday afternoon.

No Moore Kieffer for Rotherham

Rotherham are still searching for their first win of 2018, two back-to-back 1-1 draws against Blackburn and Oldham have seen Paul Warne’s men slip to eighth in the table after spending the majority of the festive period in the play-off’s, so they will be desperately looking to reinstate themselves back into the illustrious top six with a victory over Pompey here. Just a single point separates these two sides going into this match up at the New York Stadium, the hosts currently sit on 41 points, while the visitors are on 42 so it really is all to play for this weekend. A win for the Millers would see them leapfrog Portsmouth; a loss however, could see them drop to ninth, should Grant McCann’s Peterborough beat Oldham in their fixture tomorrow. The loss of leading goalscorer Kieffer Moore will be a massive blow for Rotherham, the 25-year-old target man scored thirteen goals for the South Yorkshiremen this season, so it’ll be really interesting to see how they’ll cope without his services moving forward.

Leading goalscorer Kieffer Moore will be missed at the New York Stadium.

Pompey searching for their first win of 2018

The visitors are also yet to win a game in 2018, they were held by fellow play-off hopefuls Scunthorpe at Fratton Park last weekend, and came undone by two late goals against Bristol Rovers on New Years Day, losing 2-1 to the Pirates in the dying minutes after initially taking the lead just after the hour mark through Ollie Hawkins. Pompey will know that losing this match will have a really damming effect on their play-off push, Rotherham are so close to them in the table and should they beat them here they would overtake them in the league standings. Striker Brett Pitman will be key for Portsmouth chances of victory in this one, the 29-year-old is League One’s second top scorer with thirteen goals and will not think twice about adding to that impressive tally here if presented with half a chance. If Portsmouth can provide Pitman with the chances here it’s more than likely that he’ll convert them – backing the former Ipswich front man to score FIRST in this clash is 4/1 with Betway.

Kenny Jackett PortsmouthKenny Jackett’s men could end the weekend in the play-off’s with a win here.
