Scunthorpe v Rotherham Betting Tips & Odds

In our Scunthorpe v Rotherham betting preview we look at what could possibly be the best bets between the two sides.

Overview

Two teams fiercely battling out for a spot in the play-off’s lock horns this weekend when Rotherham travel to Scunthorpe. The 4th placed hosts go into this fixture just a single space above their opponents so will be well aware of the challenge they face here. Rotherham sit four points behind Scunthorpe in the table at the moment so could see that gap shortened to just one with a win. The last time these two sides met was back in October, where it was Rotherham who came out on top as 2-0 winners courtesy of goals from Will Vaulks and Kieffer Moore.

Paul Warne

It’s 4th versus 5th in League One this weekend as Paul Warne takes his side to Scunthorpe.

Scunny with one win in five

The hosts have only won once in their last five league games so go into this game with little momentum. Goals from Josh Morris (2) and Ivan Toney secured a 3-2 victory over Fleetwood last weekend though, a result that means Scunthorpe do head into this clash with a bit of confidence. Defensively the Iron have have been poor in recent weeks. With just one clean sheet in their previous eleven league games there’s clearly some defensive work to be done if they’re to remain in contention for promotion to the Championship at the end of the season. The hosts are among the highest scoring teams in the division however, with 45 goals scored in 31 games they pose such a threat going forward.

The acquisition of Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney looks to have been a great bit of business for United. Toney, who was on loan to Wigan Athletic for the first half of the season decided to join Scunthorpe for the remainder of the campaign. He was on the scoresheet in their last match against Fleetwood so will be looking to continue on from that here. He’s priced at odds of 13/2 to net FIRST with PaddyPower. Josh Morris is Scunthorpe’s highest goalscorer with 10 league goals this term, he bagged a brace against Fleetwood so heads into this match in fine form. Morris is 8/1 to bag FIRST with PaddyPower.

Graham Alexander Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe have only won once in their last five games.

Millers unbeaten in ten

Rotherham travel to Scunthorpe in excellent form, Paul Warne’s men are unbeaten in their last ten and ran out convincing 2-0 winners against AFC Wimbledon last weekend. Michael Smith and David Ball secured the win for the Millers in that clash at the New York Stadium and means the visitors are now just four points behind their counterparts for this match ahead of this weekend’s encounter. Rotherham have only conceded one goal in their last four games and have now kept three clean sheets in their last three so will be a really difficult side to break down here. Their last five games have all ended with under 2.5 goals, so if you can see a repeat in this clash that’s priced at odds of 4/5 with BetBright.

Without the services of Kieffer Moore to rely on up front, Rotherham will be turning to 28-year-old front man David Ball to find the back of the net. Moore was sold to Barnsley in the January transfer window following a hugely successful first half of the season where he bagged thirteen goals for the Millers. Ball was on the scoresheet last weekend against Wimbledon so goes into this match full of confidence. He’s priced at odds of 6/1 to score FIRST with PaddyPower in this one!

David Ball Rotherham

Rotherham’s David Ball is now their top scorer following the departure of Kieffer Moore.
