Stoke City v Chelsea Betting Preview
In our Stoke City v Chelsea betting preview we look at the best possible betting tips between the two sides.
Chelsea will arrive at the Bet365 Stadium looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table. The Blues already hold a 10 point lead over second placed Tottenham Hotspur and third placed Manchester City, but could make that 13 with the other two clubs not in action until Sunday. Antonio Conte’s men are brimming with confidence right now and come into this game having claimed a 1-0 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Manchester United on Monday night thanks to an N’Golo Kante strike. Stoke meanwhile have also been doing well of late. They are unbeaten in two in the Premier League and picked up a hard earned 0-0 draw away at Manchester City in their last outing.
Stoke unbeaten in two
Mark Hughes’ Stoke City have been a difficult side to predict this season, with their form having being inconsistent throughout. The Potters have picked up nine wins and nine draws as well as losing 10 times in the Premier League, which highlights how up and down they are. That said, they are unbeaten in their last two with a 2-0 victory prior to their 0-0 draw with Manchester City and they are now up to ninth place in the table. The Potters are also a very good side on home soil, they have won their last two at home (both to nil) and are also unbeaten in their last eight Premier League matches at the Bet365 Stadium. Only Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and AFC Bournemouth have come away from the Potteries with all three points, so Chelsea will need to be at their best if they are to join that list as it is not often the away side wins. The thing that has held Stoke back from climbing higher in the league table is the fact that they do not score too many goals. Despite having the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Xherdan Shaqiri and Ibrahim Afellay they cannot seem to consistently find the net. In a bid to change this they signed Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion in the January transfer window, but he is yet to find the net for his new club in five appearances whilst Manchester City loanee Wilfried Bony has fallen out of favour after struggling to hit the ground running in Staffordshire.
Chelsea continue to impress
Chelsea are having an absolutely brilliant with Italian manager Conte certainly having the desired effect at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are sitting pretty 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and now find themselves in the semi-finals of the FA Cup so are on for the double. Everything has clicked into place for the Blues following their nightmare campaign last time around, with their star players such as Diego Costa and Eden Hazard appearing to re-discover their best form. Between them the duo have netted 29 goals this season, with Costa leading the way with 18 to his name. The former Atletico Madrid striker has bagged in each of his last two Premier League appearances and looks a constant menace in every fixture. Pedro is another player who’s form has dramatically improved this season and he has now bagged 11 times this season, including strikes against Swansea City and Burnley recently. However, the player who is making all the difference for Chelsea is certainly summer arrival Kante. The Frenchman had a major impact in helping Leicester to the title last season and is doing the same at Chelsea, sitting deep in the midfield and sweeping up any danger that comes the Blues way. He also managed to score in his last match against Manchester United and Frank Lampard has even labelled him as ‘the best midfielder in the world’ at the moment, high praise indeed.
