Swansea v Huddersfield

Swansea v Huddersfield Betting Tips & Odds

In our Swansea v Huddersfield betting preview we look at the best possible bets between the two sides.

Overview

Paul Clement’s Swansea welcome Huddersfield to the Liberty Stadium looking to pick up a big three points. The Swans have had a difficult start to the new season with them currently the third and final spot in the relegation zone after seven games. City supporters are yet to see their side win a home a game but they’ll see this as an excellent opportunity to get one over on one of their rivals. The visitors make the trip to South Wales up in eleventh position after a great start to the campaign, but they’ve really come unstuck in the weeks since. Town are now five games without a victory and they’ve scored just one goal in that period, so they really need to improve soon or they could drop even further down the table.

Swansea v Huddersfield

Paul Clement will be desperate for his side to get off the mark at home

Swansea still looking for their first home win of the campaign

This was expected to be a tough season for Swansea City and the early signs suggest exactly that, with the club in the relegation zone after seven games. Paul Clement’s men have accumulated just five points from those games and they’ve really struggled to get going, putting in some poor performances particularly at home. They’ve lost all three of their games in front of their own supporters which includes a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Watford in their previous outing there, when a last minute effort from Hornets forward Richarlison sealed the three points for the visitors. A big response is need here and they’ll be confident that they can get a result against a struggling Huddersfield side.

Swansea were last in action a fortnight ago when they made the trip to the capital to take on West Ham at the London Stadium. It was a game that they found difficult to get any kind of foothold in and they were punished in dramatic circumstances, conceding another last minute goal to go down to a 1-0 defeat. Swansea are clearly missing the influence of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente who were sold by the club in the summer, with their replacements struggling to get going. Tammy Abraham, Wilfried Bony and Renato Sanches are the players who Clement has looked to and they’re yet to get firing, but this could be the game that they start to click.

Five without a win for Huddersfield

It’s a historic season for everyone involved with Huddersfield Town, with the club embarking on it’s maiden Premier League season. The Terriers’ hopes of survival were written off by just about everyone when their promotion was confirmed back in May but they’ve made a decent start to the campaign. The Terriers have been beaten in just two of their opening seven games and they won their first two matches to nil against Crystal Palace (3-0) and Newcastle (1-0). But unfortunately for The Terriers faithful that’s about as good as it’s got, with the club failing to win any of their next five league games. That’s seen them fall into the bottom half of the table and they need to stop the rot ASAP.

They went into the international break on the back of a 4-0 thrashing by Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham at the John Smith’s Stadium. It was a stark reminder to the Terriers of just how brutal and unforgiving the division can be, with Spurs & Harry Kane in particular running riot – so the break came just at the right time for them. David Wagner would’ve worked his side hard over the break and we’re expecting them to come out and try do a real job on the hosts, and they’ll be confident that they can do just that. They’ve picked up four points from a possible nine on the road and kept two clean sheets in the process, so if they can remain defensively sound it’s well within their capabilities to make the trip back to Yorkshire with something to show for efforts.
