Tottenham v Juventus Betting Tips & Odds

In our Tottenham v Juventus betting preview we look at what could possibly be the best bets between the two sides.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham welcome Juventus to Wembley for the return leg of their Champions League knockout tie. After initially going two goals down to Juve in the first leg a fortnight ago, Tottenham fought back in dramatic style with two goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen to draw the game 2-2. Those two away goals have done Spurs’ chances of qualification the world of good heading into this clash, but will they be able to contain Massimiliano Allegri’s men in London?

Hosts with it all to play for

Most people wrote Tottenham’s chances off at half-time in the first leg of this clash in Italy. After Gonzalo Higuain put Juventus two goals ahead with a brace in the opening 10 minutes, they were lucky to not find themselves three goals behind after Higuain missed a penalty on the stroke of half-time. That proved to be the turning point however as Spurs came out a completely different side in the second-half. A spirited performance saw Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen draw the game level 20 minutes from time, which means it’s now all to play for in Wednesday night’s make-or-break tie in North London.

Tottenham’s home form this season has been absolutely exceptional, they’ve lost just two games in all competitons at Wembley (only one in the league) and head into this fixture on the back of seven straight home wins. That impressive statistic will give Spurs a massive boost ahead of this encounter, however with Juventus winning their last 10 away games on the bounce in all competitions, they’ll know they’re going to have to play out of their skin to overcome the Italian powerhouses. Harry Kane was yet again on the scoresheet in the first leg of this game a fortnight ago, he’s been in prolific form this season, scoring 31 goals in both the league and Europe. The England front man will be Tottenham’s biggest threat in this clash so backing him to open the scoring would be our suggestion here – that’s priced at 3/1 with Bet365.

Visitors a force on the road

Juventus have long been one of the most dominant forces in the Champions League. They’ve endured heartbreak on more than one occasion in recent history, losing both the 2015 final to Barcelona and the 2017 final to Real Madrid last year. The last time they won this prestigious competition was back in 1996, so they’ll be out to change that statistic this time around, but know they’ve got a challenge on their hands after conceding two away goals in the first leg. The visitors will know that all they have to do is keep a clean sheet and grind out a 1-0 win and they’ll qualify for the next round. Juventus are the kings at doing this, they’ve been renowned for their solid defensive performances over the years and just this season have won seven games all by a 1-0 scoreline.

With the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Medhi Benatia forming the perfect centre back partnership this season it’s going to be extremely difficult for Tottenham to break them down here. With just 15 goals conceded in 26 league games this term, it’s clear to see where Juve’s strengths lie so they’ll be looking to use this to their advantage here. Offensively Juventus are lethal as well, with former Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain and Argentinian front man Paulo Dybala heading up the attack, the visitors pose such a threat going forward. Higuain is priced at odds of 9/2 to open the scoring with Betway, while Dybala is 11/2 with Bet365. So if you fancy a bet on a FGS market and think it will be the visitors who’ll strike first, then either of these two players are definitely your best option here.
