Wolves v QPR Betting Tips & Odds

In our Wolves v QPR betting preview we look at what could possibly be the best bets between the two sides.

Overview

League leaders Wolves play host to Ian Holloway’s Queens Park Rangers this weekend, looking to extend their lead at the top of the Championship. The hosts have been terrific this season and now look in prime position to clinch the league title when the campaign comes to an end in May. The visitors by contrast have endured an underwhelming season this time out, they’re currently 15th in the table after thirty games and head into this clash having won just one game in their last three. These two sides have already met this season and it was surprisingly QPR who prevailed, beating Wolves 2-1 at Loftus Road back in October.

Hosts looking to make it three in three

Wolves have won their previous two matches against Ipswich and Sheffield United so take some great momentum into this tie with QPR. They’ve also been prolific at Molineux this term, losing just two of their fifteen games on home soil so will be strong favourites for the win here against a poorly travelled Rangers outfit. Wolves have also kept four clean sheets in their last five matches so have a really strong defensive record going into this game. In fact, Nuno Espírito Santo’s men have only conceded twenty-two goals all season, less than anyone else in the whole division so will be an extremely difficult side to break down in this fixture. With that in mind we can see a good bet being Wolves to win to nil here, that’s priced at odds of 13/10 with BetVictor!

Wolves front man Leo Bonatini is the main threat for them in front of goal. The Brazilian has got twelve goals to his name so far and could quite easily add to that tally here against a QPR side who have looked shaky defensively this term. With the likes of Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves creating chances for Bonatini from midfield, Wolves have such a dangerous attacking threat that could punish any side. Two out of Wolves’ previous three games at home have ended in 3-0 wins, will we see a repeat performance here? We think so, backing that as a correct score bet is priced favourably with BetVictor at 9/1.

Wolves have lost just two games at home all season.

Rangers inconsistent this season

The visitors go into this game on the back of a vital 1-0 win against Barnsley last weekend. A Josh Scowen goal just after half-time secured all three points for Ian Holloway’s men in that clash at Loftus Road, so they do take some a little confidence into this fixture in the West Midlands. Prior to that slender win over the Tykes though, QPR had lost two games on the bounce to Middlesbrough and Bristol City, result that have seen them slip into the bottom half of the Championship table once again. With five goals conceded and none scored in those two defeats, it’s clear to see that Rangers inability to find the net is the main issue they’re facing at the moment. The R’s have averaged just under one goal per game this season, so need to start improving on that statistic if they’re to claw themselves back into the top half of the table in the remaining months of the season.

With just two wins on the road all season, QPR have one of the worst away records in the whole division. A 2-1 win over Birmingham and 3-1 win over Burton are the only victory’s Ian Holloway’s men have experienced this time around. They’ve only managed to score twelve goals away from home in fifteen games so it’s not looking good for them here. If you fancy a bet on an anytime goalscorer for QPR though, Matt Smith is probably your best option. The 28-year-old is their top scorer with six goals and provides such an arial presence in an around the area. He’s 3/1 to bag ANYTIME with Betway.
