Brentford vs Fulham: Preview & Prediction

West London sees Brentford take on Fulham this Saturday in the Premier League. Brentford look to extend the distance between themselves and the relegation zone whereas Fulham aim for a spot in the top half of the table.

          Date: 04/05/2024

          Kick off time: 15:00

          Location: Gtech Community Stadium

The distance between Brentford and the relegation seems to be big enough to inspire some safety. Fulham, however, have the full liberty to aim upwards for a top half finish.

Brentford currently sit 16th in the Premier League after 35 games. The Bees have nine wins, eight draws and 18 losses, leaving them on 35 points, ten points above the relegation zone.

The Bees have been impressive in front of goal this season. In 35 games, Brentford have scored 52 goals which gives them an average of 1.59 goals a game. Brentford have been poor defensively, conceding 60 goals and keeping just six clean sheets.

Fulham sit just above Brentford in 13th in the Premier League. In 35 games, The Cottagers have 12 wins, seven draws and 16 losses which leaves them on 43 points, five points from the top half of the table.

The Cottagers have been consistent in front of goal this season, scoring 50 goals in 35 games, an average of 1.47 goals a game. Fulham have been much better defensively this season, conceding 55 goals and keeping nine clean sheets.

Brentford and Fulham have met 65 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1928. Not much separates the two sides with Brentford having 25 wins and Fulham having 23 wins, with the other 17 games ending in a draw.

The last five games in this fixture have seen three wins for Brentford and two wins for Fulham. Three of the last five games in this fixture have seen both teams on the scoresheet.

          Recent Form

In their last five games in all competitions, Brentford have two wins, two draws and one loss.

The visit from Brighton saw Brentford register just five shots with only two of them on target and 33% of the possession. Brighton did have 24 shots with six of them on target but also couldn’t convert any of these as the game finished in a 0 - 0 draw.

It was another draw for Brentford the next time out, but this time both sides had their shooting boots on. Ollie Watkins gave Aston Villa the 1 - 0 lead at halftime and Morgan Rogers doubled the lead just a minute into the second half. A ten minute period on the hour mark saw goals from Mathias Jorgensen, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa to give Brentford the 3 - 2 lead. However, a late goal from Watkins forced a 3 - 3 draw.

Brentford finally picked up a win against a struggling Sheffield United. An own goal from Oliver Luke Arblaster and a late goal from Frank Onyeka gave Brentford the 2 - 0 win.

Wissa was on the scoresheet again for The Bees with two goals against Luton Town. Ethan Pinnock, Keane Lewis-Pinnock and Kevin Schade were also on the scoresheet in the 5 - 1 win over Luton, with Luke Berry scoring in extra time.

The last time out for Brentford was against Everton. Idrissa Gueye scored the only goal of the game on the hour mark with The Toffees’ only shot on target to give Everton the 1 - 0 win.

In their last five games in all competitions, Fulham have one win, one draw and three losses.

A poor first half from Fulham saw Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White all score to give Nottingham Forest the 3 - 0 lead at halftime. Tosin Adarabioyo did score just four minutes into the second half but Fulham couldn’t find the net again as they slumped to a 3 - 1 loss.

Despite Fulham having 67% of the possession and four shots on target, Fulham were unable to score. Bruno Guimaraes scored the only goal of the game in the 81st minute to give Newcastle the 1 - 0 win.

Fulham bounced back the next time out against West Ham. Andreas Pereira opened the scoring in the ninth minute and added another in the 72nd minute to give Fulham the 2 - 0 win.

Trent Alexander-Arnold gave Liverpool the lead just after the 30 minute mark but Timothy Castagne equalised for Fulham in the first half added time. However, in the second half, Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota both scored to give Liverpool the 3 - 1 win.

The most recent outing for Fulham was against Crystal Palace. Rodrigo Muniz opened the scoring for Fulham early in the second half but in the 87th minute, Jeffrey Schlupp found the back of the net to force a 1 - 1 draw.

          Footy Accumulator Prediction

Despite having a roller coaster season so far, Brentford are likely to pick up a big win over Fulham this weekend. However, both sides are likely to be on the scoresheet with Wissa likely to be one of those names for The Bees. Brentford 2 - 1 Fulham.
