4 Tips for Tuesday’s World Cup Action - 29/11/22

Ecuador against Senegal is a crucial game in terms of qualification from Group A as they both look to advance to the Round of 16 at the World Cup in Qatar. Ecuador have four points to their name while Senegal have three.

Enner Valencia has been one of the stars of the competition, scoring three times in two matches. The Fenerbahce man has 13 goals in the Turkish Super Lig so far this season and has managed two shots on target in each of Ecuador’s opening two matches.

On top of this, Senegal have conceded six or more corners in each match against the Netherlands and Qatar while also receiving 20+ booking points.

The Netherlands will be expected to comfortably brush aside host nation Qatar, with Felix Sanchez’s men being the first side to exit the competition.

PSV winger Cody Gakpo will be looking to keep up his 100% scoring rate so far, having scored the opening goal in the Netherlands' 2-0 victory over Senegal, as well as in their 1-1 draw with Ecuador. On top of this, Qatar have lost both of their matches by at least a two-goal margin, while also receiving 30 or more booking points in each fixture.

Iran against the USA promises to be an entertaining match, with both knowing that a win will qualify them for the Round of 16.

A player to look out for here is FC Porto striker Mehdi Taremi who bagged a superb brace against England in Iran’s 6-2 loss on matchday one. The 30-year-old has scored 27 goals in 61 caps for Iran and has 21 goal contributions for FC Porto in the current campaign.

Wales versus England should be a feisty fixture, with the Welsh knowing that their neighbours will be determined to end their World Cup hopes.

The last time these two sides faced off at a tournament was back in Euro 2016, which resulted in a 2-1 win for England as goals from Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge turned the game around after a long-range free kick from Gareth Bale.

England have had 11 corners across their two matches, whilst Wales have had five. In their last two fixtures, Rob Page’s men have received three yellow cards and one red - Gareth Southgate’s side are yet to be shown a card of any colour.
