On Saturday afternoon, Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich hosts 15th-place St. Pauli at the Allianz Arena in what is a crucial game for both sides.
Date: 29/03/2025
Location: Allianz Arena
Time: 2:30pm
As previously mentioned, Bayern Munich won the reverse fixture between the two sides back on 9th November as Jamal Musiala scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd-minute. Vincent Kompany’s men controlled that match with 75% possession, while taking 13 shots to St. Pauli’s three.
Bayern Munich are currently top of the table as they have earned 62 points from 26 matches, seeing them sit six points clear of last season’s Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen with a much better goal difference, having fired in 75 goals while conceding just 24 times.
On top of this, Bayern are also going strong in the Champions League, as they thrashed domestic rivals Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 on aggregate to set up a quarter-final tie with Inter Milan.
St. Pauli’s first season back in the Bundesliga since 2010/11 has been a tough one, however, they are 15th-place with 25 points from 26 games, meaning that they are five points clear of VFL Bochum who occupy the relegation play-off.
A season of struggle was always on the cards for the visitors, having seen last season’s manager Fabian Hürzeler depart for Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer. However, former Union Saint-Gilloise and Genoa coach Alexander Blessin has done a solid job to date, winning eight and drawing four of his 28 games in charge.
