Arsenal vs PSG Prediction

Arsenal’s performances in the home and away legs against Real Madrid in the previous round were a real statement of intent from the Gunners, which was similar to PSG’s performances against Liverpool in the round of 16.

Mikel Arteta’s side produced a commanding two-legged victory against Los Blancos, in which Declan Rice was the pivotal figure from set-pieces with a brace from free-kicks. Set pieces will be key for the home side, as they currently rank fourth in the Premier League in set-piece goals, with 13 scored.

Paris Saint-Germain have been excellent this season, as the Ligue 1 Champions have only lost once in the league all season. In Europe, however, their recent performance against Aston Villa away from home has shown that the French side are still capable of a potential collapse if the game is not falling in their favour.

For this game, we are leaning towards an Arsenal home win. The Gunners are capable of hurting PSG from set pieces. There could be goals for either side, with both teams scoring in five of the last seven games involving Arsenal and the last five games involving PSG.

We predict a 2-1 Arsenal home win.

Arsenal 2-1 PSG

Arsenal vs PSG Preview & Prediction

Arsenal host PSG in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final, with both teams hoping to end their long-awaited barren run in this competition, finally.

Date: 29/04/2025
Location: Emirates Stadium, London.
Kick-Off: 8 pm

Arsenal’s reign under Mikel Arteta could well be defined by how their latest UEFA Champions League venture will end, with the club looking to end their long wait without winning the coveted European trophy. The Gunners’ Premier League campaign has effectively ended, following Liverpool’s title win, and a triumph in this competition would undoubtedly lift the pressure from Mikel Arteta’s shoulders.

The home side was excellent in the league phase of this competition, finishing third in the standings, level on points with fellow semi-finalists Barcelona and two points behind Premier League Champions, Liverpool. Arsenal finished with 19 points and went on to secure a resounding 9-3 aggregate victory against PSV in the round of 16. The quarter-finals saw the Gunners dispatch the reigning champions, Real Madrid, 5-1 on aggregate.

Paris Saint-Germain have shown that this year could be the year for Le Parisiens to win the UEFA Champions League. The home side have finally built a squad capable of challenging the European elite. However, their recent performances against Aston Villa and OGC Nice could provide some worry for Luis Enrique heading into the tie at the Emirates.

The two sides have met this season, with the Gunners recording a 2-0 victory against PSG, thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz.

Where to watch

The game will be available on TNT Sports via the Discovery+ app.

Team News

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal are missing several players, most notably Gabriel and Kai Havertz, due to injuries, which have ruled the pair out for the remainder of the season. Thomas Partey is suspended for this fixture.

PSG Team News

Luis Enrique has a full squad available to choose from for this game. Bradley Barcola could be set to return to the team, following PSG’s home defeat against OGC Nice on Friday, which ended Le Parisiens' unbeaten league record.

Form Guide

Arsenal:

Arsenal are in great form, all things considered, as the Gunners are unbeaten in their previous 12 matches following their 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace. Although drawing games have been an issue for the Gunners, with 13 draws in 34 matches, this has been a key reason why they have fallen behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners are coming into this game with three wins from their last five matches, with victories against Ipswich Town (4-0), Real Madrid (1-2) and another win against Los Blancos (3-0). At home, Arsenal have an excellent record in the Premier League with only one loss from 17 matches.

PSG:

Paris Saint-Germain’s unbeaten league record was ended unexpectedly at the hands of OGC Nice (1-3) on Friday, which is their only blemish on an excellent season domestically for the Ligue 1 Champions. PSG are coming into this game having won two of their previous five matches in all competitions, with a draw against Nantes (2-2) and a defeat to Aston Villa (3-2).

Against English teams this season, PSG have beaten Manchester City (4-2), Liverpool (0-1) and Aston Villa (3-2), whilst losing in the reverse legs against both Aston Villa and Liverpool and a 2-0 defeat away at Arsenal.
