Atletico Madrid are hoping to finish the job in front of their own fans this week as they take on Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie.
Los Rojiblancos come into the game with a 2-0 aggregate lead after Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth helped down a 10-man Barcelona side in Catalonia last week. Despite being largely second best for the majority of the game, Atletico managed to get the job done at the Camp Nou and they'll be hoping to finish it here.
Atletico have won only two of their last six head-to-head meetings against Barcelona, with the Catalans winning four of the last six clashes between the sides. The two sides met at the Metropolitano in the league around ten days ago, with Barcelona winning 2-1.
Four of the last five head-to-head meetings between the two teams have seen over 2.5 goals scored, while four of Atletico's last five games have also seen at least three goals scored.
Barcelona, meanwhile, will still be kicking themselves about losing last week's first leg. Hansi Flick's side are 22 points ahead of Atletico Madrid in La Liga and have a strong recent record against Diego Simeone's men, but a schoolboy error from Pau Cubarsi leading to a straight red card effectively threw the game before it had begun. They now need to dust themselves off and go again, because while overturning a two-goal deficit away from home is no mean feat, it's very doable for them.
Their form is extremely strong, with nine wins and only one loss from their last eleven games. Like Atletico, they're a pretty high-event side and have seen over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six games.
In Lamine Yamal, Barcelona have arguably the best player in the world, with the teenager boasting 22 goals and 18 assists in all competitions this season.
Having already won at the Metropolitano just over a week ago, Barcelona will be confident of winning here, but having to overturn a two-goal deficit leaves little room for error and may just make progressing to the semi-finals too big of a task.
Atletico Madrid 1-2 Barcelona
