A mouth-watering European fixture awaits on Wednesday night, as Bayern Munich take on last season's finalists Arsenal at the Allianz Arena. The two sides met on Arsenal's road to the final, with the Gunners recording a 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium.
Bayern Munich will be looking to bounce back in Europe after almost being stunned by Norwegian outfit Viking FK away from home, but managed a 3-3 draw in the end. The Bavarians then recorded an emphatic 6-1 victory at home over RB Leipzig in the league at the weekend, thanks in large part to a hat-trick by Luis Diaz. Michael Olise was also on the scoresheet, but for this fixture Olise is suspended following his dismissal against Viking FK.
The home side are in magnificent form, and Arsenal will have to be wary, as Vincent Kompany's side are unbeaten in their last 15 matches, and their last competitive defeat was the first leg of the semi-final against PSG in last season's competition. Bayern Munich are unbeaten in their last 10 home games, winning eight.
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal secured a late win at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest at the weekend, to move themselves within three points of league leaders Manchester City. The Gunners are on a three-game winning run since their defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, having also secured a 3-0 home win against Lille in their last European fixture.
Arsenal's record in the competition is excellent, despite not actually winning the coveted trophy. The away side last lost a Champions League fixture inside 90 minutes to PSG back in 2025 and since have also lost to PSG in last season's final, but on penalties.
We can see goals in this fixture. Bayern Munich are not the best defensively, with no clean sheets in their last three and having conceded three goals to Viking FK. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in the last six matches involving Bayern Munich and in four of the last five games involving Arsenal.
That being said, Bayern's form is expected to continue, but a draw is likely to be on the cards between two of the favourites for the competition.
Bayern 2-2 Arsenal
