Stuttgart vs PSG Prediction

Stuttgart’s clash with Paris Saint Germain is a do-or-die fixture for both sides in this season’s Champions League Group Phase, with this being a meeting of 24th against 22nd.

Despite there being potential that the game could be a cagey affair, both sides have shown that they are full of goals, with Stuttgart scoring 10 times in their last five matches, while PSG have fired in 13 goals in the same number of games, including four in their recent 4-2 comeback win against Manchester City on matchday seven.

On top of this, Stuttgart’s home form in this season’s Champions League is less than convincing, as prior to their 5-1 win over Young Boys, the German Bundesliga outfit had suffered a 2-0 home loss to Atalanta after a 1-1 home draw with Sparta Praha.

Prediction: Stuttgart 2-3 PSG

Stuttgart vs PSG Prediction & Preview

As previously mentioned, Stuttgart versus PSG is a huge clash on matchday eight of this season’s Champions League, with both sides looking to claim all three points in order to guarantee their place in the Round of 32 play-off.

Date: 29/01/2025

Location: MHPArena

Time: 8pm

This will be the first-ever competitive meeting between Stuttgart and PSG, which is extraordinary when considering how many times both sides have entered European competitions, as well as the magnitude of this game.

Both sides sit on 10 points after seven matches and will be nervously looking over their shoulders at the likes of Manchester City and Dinamo Zagreb who waiting in the wings to try and take advantage from a slip-up from either side.

Stuttgart actually started the 2024/25 campaign following an excellent 2023/24 season that saw them finish as runners-up to Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga. Sebastian Hoeneß’ men actually won just three of their opening 10 league matches, however, their 3-2 home loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in early November, Stuttgart have managed to pick-up six wins and one draw from their last nine Bundesliga games, propelling them to fourth in the table.

As far as the Champions League is concerned, Stuttgart have been inconsistent, having managed wins over Juventus (1-0), Young Boys (5-1) and Slovan Bratislava (3-1) while drawing with Sparta Prague (1-1) and suffering defeats at the hands of Real Madrid (3-1), Atalanta (2-0) and Red Star Belgrade (5-1).

Predictably, PSG are enjoying another solid league campaign under Luis Enrique, as the Parisians sit atop of the Ligue 1 standings with 47 points to their name, having gone 19 games unbeaten (14 wins and five draws).

However, in the Champions League, things haven’t quite been so plain sailing for the 2019/20 runners-up, as despite earning a narrow 1-0 home win over Girona on matchday one, they went on a four game winless run in the competition following defeats to Arsenal (2-0) and Atlético Madrid (2-1) on either side of a dismal 1-1 home draw with PSV, while also suffering a loss at Bayern Munich.

But, since that poor run of form, PSG have managed to claw back ground in the race to qualify for the Round of 32 play-off, having beaten Red Bull Salzburg (3-0) and most recently Manchester City (4-2), with the last victory coming from a 2-0 deficit as despite trailing to strikes from Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland, the Ligue 1 outfit scored four goals in 34 minutes via Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Joao Neves and Gonçalo Ramos to turn the game on its head.

Form Guide

Stuttgart

Stuttgart enter their clash with PSG off the back of a 2-0 away defeat at Mainz, Sebastien Hoeneß’ men will be hoping that they can recapture their form that had seen them earn four victories in a row against the likes of Slovan Bratislava (3-1), Freiburg (4-0), RB Leipzig (2-1) and Augsburg (1-0).

Notably, ex-Brighton forward Deniz Undav is having a superb campaign, having managed to find the back of the net seven times in 13 Bundesliga matches. The Germany international is priced at 13/2 to score first against PSG.

PSG

PSG were held to a 1-1 home draw by Stade Reims on Saturday, however, in the run-up to that game, Luis Enrique’s side had managed a string of vital victories over Manchester City (4-2), Lille (2-1), Espaly-Saint-Marcel (4-2) and Saint-Etienne (2-1).

Noticeably, ex-Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund forward Dembele has scored four times in PSG’s last five matches. The 27-year-old is priced at 9/4 to score anytime away at Stuttgart.
