FCSB vs Manchester United Prediction

Manchester United are firm favourites to win this game, especially considering the fact that Ruben Amorim’s men have won four of their last five matches, doing so against the likes of Arsenal, Southampton, Rangers and Fulham.

On top of this, the Red Devils are one of three unbeaten sides in the UEFA Europa League, alongside Lazio and Galatasaray, while being the joint-third top scorers in the competition with 14 goals to their name.

In general, United have a good record against Romanian teams, as they’ve won five of their last six meetings.

Prediction: FSCB 0-2 Manchester United

FCSB vs Manchester United Prediction & Preview

FCSB host Manchester United at Arena Națională in the UEFA Europa League, in a game where both sides will be aiming to secure their place in the Round of 16.

Date: 30/01/2025

Location: Arena Națională

Time: 8pm

Steaua Bucharest managed to win the Romanian Superliga last season for the first time in nine years and have started their domestic campaign off in good style, having accumulated 41 points from 23 matches (11 wins, eight draws and four defeats), seeing them sit level with top of the table Universitatea Cluj and two points above third-place CFR Cluj.

As far as the Europa League goes, FCSB have been one of the surprise packages in this season’s competition, as they currently occupy the final Round of 16 qualification place (8th-place), having earned 14 points from seven matches.

So far, FCSB have managed to beat the likes of RFS (4-1), PAOK (1-0), Midtjylland (2-0) and Qarabag (3-2) while drawing 0-0 with both Hoffenhein and Olympiakos while suffering their sole defeat to Rangers on matchday three via a heavy 4-0 scoreline.

On the other hand, Manchester United started their Europa League campaign off under the management of Erik ten Hag, resulting in three drab draws against FC Twente (1-1), FC Porto (3-3) and Fenerbahce (1-1). Ruud van Nistelrooy took interim charge on matchday four against PAOK and oversaw a solid 2-0 win, while Ruben Amorim has continued the positive trend having saw his side beat Bodo/Glimt (3-2), Viktoria Plzen (2-1) and Rangers (2-1), propelling United to fourth in the standings.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager will know that the Europa League is United’s only realistic chance to qualify for the 2025/26 Champions League, as in the Premier League, the Red Devils sit 12th in the table, a mere 12 points adrift city rivals Manchester City.

So far this campaign, United are yet to find any form of consistency, having shown glimpses of potential under Amorim with wins away at Man City and Arsenal, while deservedly earning a 2-2 draw at Liverpool, however, turgid performances at home to the likes of Newcastle and Brighton have somewhat tempered expectations of the fans for the current campaign.

Form Guide

FCSB

The hosts are unbeaten across their last five matches with three wins and two draws, with their last Europa League game resulting in a 3-2 victory at Qarabag thanks to a brace from Adrian Sut on either side of a goal from David Miculescu.

In terms of domestic form, FCSB recently managed a narrow 1-0 win away at UTA Arad as Florin Tanase scored the only goal of the game. Prior to that result, FCSB were held to 1-1 draws by Hermannstadt and Farul Constanta on either side of a 2-0 win at Politehnica Iasi.

Manchester United

United managed an unspectacular 1-0 win away at Fulham on Sunday night, as Lisandro Martínez fired in a deflected strike with just 12 minutes to go. The aforementioned result came after a dramatic 2-1 home win over Rangers where Bruno Fernandes scored a 92nd-minute, just four minutes after Cyriel Dessers looked to have stole a point for the Scottish Premiership outfit.

The Red Devils last home league match resulted in a dismal 3-1 home loss to Brighton after promising wins over Southampton (3-1) and Arsenal, with the latter being via a penalty shootout in the FA Cup after a 1-1 draw.
