AS Roma vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction

AS Roma versus Eintracht Frankfurt will be an evenly fought contest when considering many factors, such as Claudio Ranieri’s side’s home form that has recently seen them earn solid victories over both Genoa and Lazio, as well as the fact that the visitors have recently lost the goalscoring and creative exploits of Omar Marmoush, following the Egyptians transfer to Manchester City.

Marmoush was a key figure for Frankfurt, having managed 34 goal contributions (20 goals and 14 assists) across 27 appearances in all competitions this campaign. However, it does look like Hugo Ekitiké could step-up, having found the back of the net five times in Frankfurt’s last four matches.

With this game being a battle of two evenly matched sides on paper, we predict a score draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

Prediction: AS Roma 2-2 Eintracht Frankfurt

AS Roma vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction & Preview

21st-place AS Roma host second-place Eintracht Frankfurt in what is a must-win game for the Giallorossi in the UEFA Europa League Group Stage.

Date: 30/1/2025

Location: Stadio Olimpico

Time: 8pm

Claudio Ranieri’s side sit just one point above 25th-place FC Porto and know that a defeat here could realistically see his side eliminated from the Europa League as a whole.

Roma have won just three of their last 14 meetings with German opponents and will be aiming to put behind what has been a turbulent first half of the season. The Giallorossi sit ninth in Serie A, nine points adrift of the fourth-place Lazio, having accumulated just 30 points from 22 matches.

Ranieri has announced that he will retire at the end of the season, with the Tinkerman only at Roma on an Interim basis, as the club from the capital are already on their third manager of the 2024/25 campaign following the dismissals of Daniele De Rossi and current Southampton boss, Ivan Juric.

Roma’s recent 1-0 loss at AZ Alkmaar has put their Round of 32 qualification chances in jeopardy, as prior to that game, they had won just two of their last six Europa League matches, having started their campaign off with a 1-1 home draw with Athletic Bilbao and a 1-0 loss at Elfsborg. While following those aforementioned matches, Roma managed home victories over Sporting Braga (3-0) and Dynamo Kyiv (1-0) on either side of draws at Union Saint-Gilloise (1-1) and Tottenham (2-2).

Eintracht Frankfurt are having a tremendous season, as they sit third in the Bundesliga with 37 points from 19 matches, with only Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich above them in the standings.

On top of this, the two-time winners of the UEFA Cup/Europa League are second in the Group Stage of the Europa League, with 16 points from seven matches, meaning that they need just one point to qualify for the Round of 16, although realistically, there is a chance that they may not even require a draw to seal their place with the likes of Manchester United travelling to FCSB on matchday eight.

So far in this season’s Europa League, Dino Toppmöller’s men have earned wins over Besiktas (3-1), RFS (1-0), Slavia Prague (1-0), Midtjylland (2-1) and Ferencvaros (2-0), while drawing 3-3 with Viktoria Plzen and suffering a 3-2 loss at Lyon.

Form Guide

AS Roma

AS Roma have won three of their last five matches entering into this game, having earned victories over the likes of Udinese (2-1), Genoa (3-1) and Lazio (2-0) with Lorenzo Pellegrini and Alexis Saelemaekers both getting on the scoresheet in the Derby della Capitale.

Claudio Ranieri saw his side suffer a potentially damaging 1-0 loss at AZ Alkmaar in their last Europa League outing, a game where Roma could’ve sealed their place in the Round of 32 play-off, while their other result in this sequence was a 2-2 away draw at Bologna where Artem Dovbyk rescued a point for the Giallorossi with a 98th-minute equaliser.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt were held to a 2-2 draw at Hoffenheim last time out, bringing their four match winning streak to a halt.

The visitors had previously managed victories over the likes of Ferencvaros (2-0), Borussia Dortmund (2-0), Freiburg (4-1) and St. Pauli. As previously mentioned, ex-PSG forward Ekitike has fired in five goals across these fixtures, seeing the 22-year-old priced at 5/2 to score anytime against Roma.
