Newcastle United beat Arsenal 2-0 on Wednesday night, seeing the Magpies progress to the final of the League Cup via a 4-0 aggregate scoreline as Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon both got on the scoresheet.

In the run-up to that game, the Magpies had suffered defeats to Fulham (2-1) and Bournemouth (4-1) on either side of a 3-1 win at Southampton. At the start of that sequence of results, Newcastle thrashed Wolves 3-0 at St. James’ Park.
