Manchester United vs Fulham Preview and Prediction

Kick off time: 4:30

Venue: Old Trafford

Date: 02/03/25

A second match in the space of a week at Old Trafford awaits Manchester United. Their win on Wednesday night against Ipswich Town was a brilliant watch for the Neutrals, with the home side winning 3-2.

It was a match to forget for Patrick Dorgu in his second game at the Theatre of Dreams as he picks up his second red card of the season after a challenge on Ipswich star man Omari Hutchinson. This could cause issues for United as they have extremely thin depth in the wing back area, with the position being crucial to Rueben Amorim's system.

However two goals from centre back duo Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire, accompanied by a Sam Morsy own goal sealed the three points.

Club captain Bruno Fernandes once again lead by example, after a brilliant performance consisting of two assists. This makes it 23 goal contribution for the Portuguese midfielder, as he looks to take United up to table.

Fulham are in good form recently with four wins in their last five in all ompetitions. Their last match in the FA Cup came at the Brick Community Stadium, in which they played League One side Wigan Athletic. Marco Silva's side won the match 2-1, as their defensive issues remained consistent, conceding ten shots.

Rodrigo Muniz was the hero as he bagged a brace and progressed Fulham to the next round. Since then they have won two of their three matches, as they look to pick up form heading into the final stretch of the season.

Where To Watch

Team News

Manchester United will be without new signing Patrick Dorgu after his red card against Ipswich. Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo will be out for a few more weeks, with Amad Diallo out for the season. Altay Bayındır should mantain his spot in cup matches, with calls for Andre Onana to be dropped permanently.

Predicted 11: Bayindir, Dalot, Mazaroui, De Ligt, Yoro, Maguire, Ugarte, Fernandes, Garnacho, Zirkzee, Hojlund.

Emile Smith-Rowe is a doubt for this match, but their side will remain mostly unchanged. Muniz could be in contention to start after his brace in the last FA Cup match.

Predicted 11: Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Berge; Traore, Pereira, Iwobi; Muniz.

Recent Form Guide

Manchester United have been frustrating to watch despite their good form, with six wins in their last ten matches, and a draw to Everton away from home. Easy mistakes are costing Amorim's side, such as Andre Onana's questionable performance against Ipswich. Their have been massive improvements since the start of 2025, including two wins in the previous rounds against Arsenal and Leicester.

One issue Manchester United have been criticised for is lack of goalscoring threat. They seem to have turned a corner on this front, with five goals in their previous two matches. Bruno Fernandes has three goal contributions in his last four appearances, as he has hit form just when United need him most.

Their recent head to head record against Fulham has to be taken into account, with the Red Devils only losing once in their last 15 matches against Fulham. They have won 14 times in their previous 17 home matches against Fulham and have only lost twice in 22 years, with the visitors not keeping a clean sheet against United in 20 attempts. Their two matches this season against the London side have provided six points for United, winning 1-0 home and away.

Fulham haven't managed a clean sheet in their last six matches, and have conceded an average of 1.3 goals per game against Premier League opposition. Their previous two games in the FA Cup have been against lower league opposition, beating Watford and Wigan to get to the fifth round. Fulham haven't managed to beat a Premier League team in the FA Cup in four years, beating Burnley in the 20/21 season.
