Toulouse vs AS Monaco Prediction

Despite AS Monaco heading into this game four places ahead of Toulouse and ten points better off after 24 Ligue 1 matches, this game will be a closely-fought contest, especially when considering that the Monegasque’s have the tenth-best away record in the division, winning four, drawing two and losing five of their 11 fixtures away from Stade Louis II.

All of the last five meetings between these two sides have produced a winner, with AS Monaco winning three to Toulouse’s two. Monaco won the return fixture 2-0 back in early December and have won both of the last two head-to-head clashes in Toulouse, hence why we’re backing Monaco to scrape a narrow win here.

Prediction: Toulouse 1-2 AS Monaco

Toulouse vs AS Monaco Prediction & Preview

Eighth-place Toulouse hosts fourth-place AS Monaco at Stadium de Toulouse in Friday night’s Ligue 1 action.

Date: 07/03/2025

Location: Stadium de Toulouse

Time: 7:45pm

When these two sides met back on 7th December, AS Monaco ran out as 2-0 victors at Stade Louis II as Wilfried Singo and Breel Embolo both got on the scoresheet.

Toulouse will be solely focussing on their league campaign following their dismal Round of 16 Coupe de France exit to Guingamp, having previously progressed past the likes of Stade Laval (2-1), and Hauts Lyonnais (4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw).

The hosts sit just six points behind Lyon who occupies the Europa Conference League qualifying position, meaning that they have something to aspire for between now and the conclusion between the 2024/25 season. This campaign it looks as though they’ll make a marked improvement having finished 11th in 2023/24 with 43 points.

In terms of a goal threat, Zakaria Aboukhlal is Toulouse’s top scorer in Ligue 1 with seven goals in 23 matches.

AS Monaco are also focussing on the league having seen their Champions League dream end via a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Benfica in the Round of 32 after a solid 17th-place finish in the Group Stage when they accumulated 13 points from eight matches having beaten Barcelona (2-1), Red Star Belgrade (5-1), Bologna (1-0) and Aston Villa (1-0) while drawing with Dinamo Zagreb (2-2) and losing to Benfica (3-2), Arsenal (3-0) and Inter Milan (3-0).

The Monegasques had a very disappointing Coupe de France campaign as they were beaten on penalties by Reims after a 1-1 draw back in January.

In Ligue 1, AS Monaco will be keen to go on a solid run of form, as they sit in the last Champions League qualification place, just two points ahead of Lille, six points adrift of second-place Marseille and 19 points behind runaway league leaders PSG.

Danish striker Mika Biereth has been a real bright spark since his arrival from Austrian Bundesliga champions Sturm Graz in January, as the 22-year-old has fired in ten goals in just seven matches.

Form Guide

Toulouse

Toulouse enters this game off the back of thumping wins over both Angers (4-0) and Le Havre (4-1) with Aboukhlal, Vincent Sierro, Aaron Donnum and Frank Magri all getting on the scoresheet against the latter mentioned opponent.

Prior to that game, the hosts had suffered back-to-back home defeats to PSG (1-0) and Guingamp (2-0) on either side of a 2-2 away draw with Auxerre.

AS Monaco

On the other hand, AS Monaco earned an emphatic 3-0 home win over Reims last time out as Biereth fired in a hat-trick.

In the run-up to that game, Monaco had suffered a 2-1 defeat at Lille while suffering a 4-3 aggregate Champions League defeat to Benfica on either side of a thumping 7-1 win over Nantes where Biereth once again scored a hat-trick while Takumi Minamino, Eliesse Ben Seghir and George Ilenikhena (2) all got on the scoreboard.
