Toulouse vs. PSG - Prediction

PSG are on fire at the minute and come into this game having scored a whopping 19 goals in their last five games. Toulouse are strong defensively, but there's likely little they can do to keep this PSG defence at bay.

Toulouse fell to a 3-0 defeat when the two sides met back in December, and given how their troubles in front of goal have persisted, it feels like we're in line for a similar outcome here. Toulouse 0-3 PSG.

Toulouse vs. PSG: Prediction, Preview & Betting Tips

PSG are looking to take another step towards what feels like an inevitable Ligue 1 title as they face Toulouse this weekend.

  • Date: 15/02/2025
  • Kick-off time: 20:05
  • Location: Stadium de Toulouse, Toulouse

Toulouse are currently 10th in Ligue 1 with 27 points from 21 games. Since getting promoted from Ligue 2 at the end of the 2021-22 season, Toulouse have quickly asserted themselves as a strong Ligue 1 club once again and have been gradually improving. A 13th place finish was followed by an 11th place finish, and they no have their sights firmly set on a top ten finish in the league. In fact, they're only six points shy of Lyon in 6th, and while catching them is a huge ask given the teams in front of them, it's a somewhat realistic goal for the team.

Toulouse have been outstanding defensively, conceding just 24 goals in the league, a rate that's bettered by only three other teams. The flip side, though, is that they struggle going forward, with the side managing only 23 league goals thus far. The team lacks a reliable goalscorer, with Moroccan winger Zakaria Aboukhlal their top scorer with only three goals.

From an English perspective, one interesting feature of the team is England U21 international Charlie Cresswell. Somewhat unexpectedly, the centre-back signed for the French club on a permanent deal from Leeds United in the summer, and after a difficult start, he's really started to lay down a marker in the team, and is drawing a lot of praise for his performances.

For Cresswell and co, this is the toughest game in the Ligue 1 calendar so a win is quite unlikely. Any result would be fantastic though, and the fans will only hope the team gives a good account of themselves.

PSG are currently top of Ligue 1 with 53 points from 21 games. The Parisians are in fine form this season and look as good as certain to retain their league title. Their main goals obviously come in Europe these days, where they're desperately chasing that elusive Champions League trophy, and many believe they're on track to finally achieve that goal. PSG have been the subject of some very big plaudits this season, with many of their Ligue 1 peers believing that this is the best iteration of the team since the Qatari-led takeover well over a decade ago.

Under Luis Enrique, PSG are playing a very exciting brand of attacking football with a very fluid front three and an attack that utilises positional rotations that are very hard to track. Ousmane Dembélé is in the form of his life, with the forward having scored in 10 consecutive games for PSG, scoring a total of 21 goals in all competitions, 20 of which are from open play.

PSG are 10 points clear of Marseille in 2nd so it's virtually impossible to imagine them slipping up from here. Their aim will likely to be to wrap up the title as early as possible so they can focus their attention solely on the Champions League, and if they carry on at their current rate, it shouldn't be too long before they're reached that point.

Where To Watch

This game will not be televised live in the UK.

Team News

Toulouse Team News:

Toulouse are dealing with a number of injuries, with Josh King, Yann-Alexandre Gboho, Djibril Sidibé, Rasmus Nicolaisen and Niklas Schmidt all on the sidelines.

Noah Edjouma could come in for the injured King, in what is likely to be the only change for the home side from last weekend's fixture.

Predicted lineup: Haug; McKenzie, Cresswell, Suazo; Messali, Canvot, Cásseres, Dønnum; Babicka, Edjouma, Aboukhlal.

PSG Team News:

The visitors have a clean bill of health, with Warren Zaïre-Emery likely to be the only absentee for this one.

After playing in the Champions League in midweek, changes could be made here, with Lee Kang-In and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia both vying for a recall to the XI.

Predicted lineup: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Lee Kang-In, Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz; Barcola, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia.

Toulouse vs. PSG - Form Guide

Toulouse:

Toulouse come into this game out of form, winless in their last five outings. Last time out, Toulouse drew 2-2 away at Auxerre after Noah Edjouma's late equaliser off the bench following a Charlie Cresswell goal earlier in the game.

Before that, Toulouse were beaten 0-2 by Guingamp in the Coupe de France, which came after a 1-1 draw with Nice, thanks to a Mark McKenzie goal, a 1-2 loss to Montpellier and a 0-0 draw with Lyon.

PSG:

PSG's form is much more impressive, with Luis Enrique's side winning all of their last five games. PSG took on Brest in the Champions League in midweek, and a brace from Ousmane Dembélé along with a penalty by Vitinha resulted in a 3-0 win.

Prior to that, goals from Vitinha, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Dembélé produced a 4-1 win over Monaco, a result that was preceded by a 2-0 win over Le Mans, thanks to Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola, a 52 win over Brest - courtesy of a Dembélé hat-trick and a brace from Gonçalo Ramos - and a 4-1 win over Stuttgart in the Champions League, where Barcola and Dembélé (X3) got the goals.
