Date: 20/03/2025
Location: Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis

This is the first time that Greece and Scotland have gone head-to-head since Euro 1996’s qualifiers. Popular TV pundit Ally McCoist scored the only goal of the game when they last met back in August 1995 at Hampden Park.
Greece failed to reach Euro 2024, as they were beaten 4-2 on penalties by Georgia in the final play-off round after a 0-0 draw. This was seen as a major disappointment having finished third-place in Group B behind France and the Netherlands, but, comfortably ahead of the Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar.
Ivan Jovanovic’s side came agonisingly close to winning League B Group 2 of the Nations League, as they finished level on points with eventual winners England, having accumulated 15 points from 16 matches.
Scotland’s Euro 2024 campaign was disastrous, as they finished bottom of Group A at the finals, having drawn 1-1 with Switzerland while losing to Germany (5-1) and Hungary (1-0). Steve Clarke’s side had a positive qualifying performance in the run-up to that competition, as they earned 17 points from eight matches, seeing them challenge Spain for top spot in Group A.
The Tartan Army had a dismal start to their Nations League campaign, as they lost all of their first three matches to Poland (3-2), Portugal (2-1) and Croatia (2-1), however, they earned seven points from their last three matches to avoid automatic relegation.
