Arsenal versus Newcastle United promises to be a closely-fought encounter, as there are just two points separating the Gunners and the Magpies in the Premier League table.

The Gunners have lost just two of their 18 home matches in the Premier League, while winning ten and drawing six, but, they are currently enduring a five-game winless run. Newcastle’s away record is the fourth-best in the league, as they have accumulated 28 points from 18 away matches.

Eddie Howe’s men will fancy their chances against an Arsenal side that they have beaten three times this season, having defeated them 1-0 in the Premier League, as well as 4-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

As previously mentioned, Newcastle have won all three head-to-head meetings between these two sides this season, having defeated the Gunners 1-0 in the Premier League back on 2nd November as Alexander Isak fired in the only goal of the game, while in the League Cup, the Magpies earned two 2-0 victories over Arsenal as Isak and Anthony Gordon were on target at the Emirates Stadium, while Jacob Murphy and Gordon scored in the return leg at St. James’ Park.

Arsenal’s season has faded away, as they were recently knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by PSG, meaning that this is yet another trophyless campaign for the Gunners under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners were expected to mount a strong challenge to win the Premier League this season as they finished as runners-up in 2022/23 and 2023/24 behind Manchester City, but, they currently sit 15 points adrift of Liverpool who have already been confirmed as Premier League champions.

Newcastle United

Newcastle United have won three of their last five matches following their 2-0 win over Chelsea last time out where both Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes got on the scoresheet.

In the run-up to that game, the Magpies had drawn 1-1 at Brighton after earning victories against Ipswich Town (3-0) and Crystal Palace (5-0) on either side of a heavy 4-1 defeat at Aston Villa.
