Aston Villa vs Ipswich Town Prediction

Aston Villa enter this weekend’s home clash with Ipswich Town as firm favourites, as they are 21 points clear of the Tractor Boys.

Something to note is that Ipswich have the fourth-worst home record in the Premier League, having accumulated just nine points from 11 matches, while Aston Villa’s home record is the fifth-best in the division, with 23 points from 12 games.

The last meeting between these two sides resulted in a 2-2 draw, we predict that the Both Teams to Score market will repeat itself here, however, with Villa to win the match.

Prediction: Aston Villa 3-1 Ipswich Town

Aston Villa vs Ipswich Town Prediction & Preview

Eighth-place Aston Villa hosts 19th-place Ipswich Town at Villa Park on Saturday with the home side aiming to strengthen their efforts to re-qualify for next season’s Champions League, while the visitors are desperately aiming to avoid being relegated back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Date: 15/02/2025

Location: Villa Park

Time: 3pm

As previously mentioned, when these two sides last met back in September, the game resulted in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Portman Road as Liam Delap scored a brace for Ipswich on either side of goals from Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins.

Unai Emery’s side are enjoying another solid campaign, as they sit just six points behind fourth-place Chelsea entering matchday 25 of the Premier League season with 37 points from 24 matches (ten wins, seven draws and seven defeats).

The Villains have been excellent in this season’s Champions League, as they managed to qualify for the Round of 16 via an eighth-place finish with 16 points from eight matches, having beaten Young Boys (3-0), Bayern Munich (1-0), Bologna (2-0), RB Leipzig (3-2) and Celtic (4-2) while drawing 0-0 with Juventus and losing to Club Brugge (1-0) and AS Monaco (1-0).

In terms of domestic cup competitions, Villa were knocked out of the League Cup by Crystal Palace in the Fourth Round, however, they are still fighting on in the FA Cup, following their excellent 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Fourth Round after defeating West Ham in the previous round. Villa have been drawn up against Cardiff City in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup.

Ipswich Town have often impressed since their shock return to the Premier League, but, have often not been rewarded for their terrific efforts. Kieran McKenna’s men are just three points adrift of 17th-place Wolves having managed 16 points from 24 games (three wins, seven draws, 14 losses).

The Tractor Boys suffered a shock exit to AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup (4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw), however, in the FA Cup they have also made the Fifth Round where they’ll play Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. McKenna’s men managed to beat the likes of Coventry City (4-1) and Bristol Rovers (3-0) during their FA Cup run.
