Brighton take on Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend as the away side look to maintain their strong start to the season.
- Date: 20/09/2025
- Kick-off: 3:00pm
- Location: Falmer Stadium, Brighton
The recent head-to-head meetings between these two teams have been edged by Brighton, with the Seagulls winning three and Tottenham winning two of the last five matchups. Both teams to score has occurred in all of the last five meetings.
Brighton are in very good form at home and lose few games in front of their own fans, going unbeaten in their last six on home soil in the league, winning three and drawing three, including a 2-1 win over Manchester City. They've also lost only one of their last 10 league games, winning six of those. Spurs have started the season well, but on the back of a Champions League game in midweek, it'll take a huge effort to come away with another three points.
Brighton are looking to build on some very successful campaigns in recent years, with the Seagulls having reached the Europa League finals and coming close again last season. Such is the competitiveness of the league, it's becoming increasingly tough for them to keep improving on their league position.
Once again, Brighton added a host of young talent to their squad in the summer, so their hope will be that they develop into some of the league's biggest stars. In the meantime, the likes of Kaoru Mitoma, Carlos Baleba and Danny Welbeck can keep the points rolling in, and they'll hope to do that this weekend.
Tottenham's start to the season has been very good, but there are some lingering issues in the team's makeup that will need addressing. Spurs have issues with the midfield balance, with a creative presence clearly lacking. James Maddison's injury has not helped in that regard, and there is a clear lack of a small-space player who can play between the lines.
Xavi Simons has shown flashes of quality in his first few appearances, but Thomas Frank seems to see him as a player best coming inside off the left, and based on Simons' own comments, it seems like he agrees.
Tottenham will be looking to claim a top four finish this season and hopefully, win another trophy along the way. If they pick up another win here, they'll be in a very strong position.
