Chelsea goes head-to-head with Manchester United in a meeting between fifth and 16th in the Premier League.
Date: 16/05/2025
Location: Stamford Bridge
Time: 8:15pm
When these two sides last met back on 3rd November, the game resulted in a 1-1 draw, as a Moises Caicedo volley cancelled out a second half Bruno Fernandes penalty for a United side that were managed by then interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The last clash between Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge was on 4th April 2024, in a game that saw the Blues run out as 4-3 winners thanks to 100th minute and 101st minute strikes from Cole Palmer.
Enzo Maresca’s men are having a solid campaign, however, they will be desperate for a win here in order to aid their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. The Blues sit fifth in the standings with 63 points from 36 matches and are just one point ahead of seventh-place Nottingham Forest.
On top of their league campaign, Chelsea have also managed to qualify for the Europa Conference League final having beaten Djurgarden 5-1 on aggregate in the semi-final of that competition. They will face Real Betis in the final on 28th May.
United’s sole focus will be on the UEFA Europa League final, where they’ll play Tottenham Hotspur. Ruben Amorim’s men managed to progress past Athletic Bilbao 7-1 on aggregate after beating Lyon 7-6 and Real Sociedad 5-2. A win in Bilbao would see the Red Devils qualify for next season’s Champions League, despite the fact that they have not finished in a European qualification place since the 2022/23 season. In the Premier League, they sit 16th with 39 points from 36 games.
