Chelsea vs Sunderland Prediction

Sunderland are looking to maintain their excellent start to the season as they take on Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend.

  • Date: 25/10/2025
  • Kick-off: 3:00pm
  • Location: Stamford Bridge, West London

Chelsea come into this game 5th in the Premier League table with 14 points from eight games. The Blues have had a solid start to the campaign despite a major injury crisis, and they'll be pleased with where they stand at present.

They come into this game in good form, with four wins and one defeat from their last five games, with all four of their wins coming consecutively. Their most recent game was a 5-1 win over a sorry Ajax side in the Champions League.

Their form at Stamford Bridge is very strong too, with four wins and one loss from their five games on home soil in all competitions this season. Their sole defeat came against Brighton, but it was largely a product of a red card, as they were leading the game 1-0 and were relatively comfortable up until being reduced to ten men.

They'll be more than confident of taking three points against newly promoted Sunderland, despite their strong start to the campaign.

The Black Cats are currently 7th in the Premier League table with 14 points from eight games. Sunderland have taken to the Premier League like a duck to water and even if they tail off from here, they've accumulated enough points to give themselves a decent chance of surviving in the league.

Their form heading into this game is solid, with two wins, two draws and one loss from their last five games. The worry for Sunderland here is that their away form hasn't been particularly impressive, with only one win (against a struggling Forest side) from four, including a 2-0 loss to Burnley. Their latest away game was a 2-0 defeat away to Manchester United in a fairly meek performance.

With only one goal scored in four games on the road, it's hard to see Sunderland springing a major surprise on a side as in-form as Chelsea, so we're backing the Blues to claim a fairly comfortable victory.

Chelsea 2-0 Sunderland
