Crystal Palace vs Ipswich Town Prediction

Crystal Palace enters their home clash with Ipswich Town as firm favourites due to the quality of their squad, as well as the fact that they have won five of their last six matches across all competitions, including impressive wins over Manchester United (2-0) and Aston Villa (4-1).

Ipswich Town are struggling this campaign, which is understandable when considering the fact that they entered this season off the back of back-to-back promotions. The Tractor Boys have won just three of their 27 league matches while drawing eight and losing 16. In terms of their Premier League away record, Town have the third-worst away record, having accumulated just ten points from 13 matches.

The last head-to-head clash resulted in a 1-0 victory for Crystal Palace back in early December, a match result that we expect to be replicated when it comes to who will win the game, with Ipswich averaging 1.2 goals per game away from home and conceding 2.07 goals conceded per game away from Portman Road, we predict that Palace will emerge as 2-1 victors.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Ipswich Town

Crystal Palace vs Ipswich Town Prediction & Preview

On Saturday (08/03/2025), Crystal Palace hosts Ipswich Town at Selhurst Park in what could be an entertaining Premier League contest.

Date: 08/03/2025

Location: Selhurst Park

Time: 3pm

As previously mentioned, Palace managed to earn all three points in the reverse fixture at Portman Road back on 3rd December as French forward Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the only goal of the game in the 59th-minute.

Oliver Glasner’s side are having a solid campaign despite starting the 2024/25 season off in a slow fashion, having won just one of their first 13 Premier League matches, initially sparking questions if Crystal Palace could be a shock relegation candidate.

However, since then, the Eagles have won eight of their last 14 league games, seeing them sit 12th in the standings with 36 points from 27 games, while also performing well in domestic cup competitions, having reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup where they were beaten 3-2 by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

In the FA Cup, Palace managed to advance to the quarter-finals where they’ll face Fulham, having beaten Stockport County (1-0), Doncaster Rovers (2-0) and Millwall (3-1).

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town were knocked out of the FA Cup away at Nottingham Forest on Monday night, after previously beating Coventry City (4-1) and Bristol Rovers (3-0). While in the League Cup, they were defeated in the Second Round by AFC Wimbledon on penalties.

Their cup exits could be a blessing in disguise, as Kieran McKenna’s side will now be solely focussing on the Premier League. Ipswich sit 18th in the table with 17 points from 27 matches, five points adrift of 17th-place Wolverhampton Wanderers, who they still have to play at Portman Road on 5th April.

Where to Watch

Crystal Palace versus Ipswich Town will not be broadcast on live TV in the UK due to the 3pm blackout laws.

Team News

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace suffered a blow during their FA Cup win over Millwall on Saturday as Jean-Philippe Mateta suffered a nasty collision with goalkeeper Liam Roberts, meaning that he will be out for this match.

Riad Chadi and Cheick Doucoure both remain absent due to long-term injuries.

Ipswich Town

Christian Walton, Wes Burns, Julio Enciso, Kalvin Phillips, Conor Chaplin, Omari Hutchinson and Chiedozie Ogbene could all miss out due to injury.

Form Guide

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have won four of their last five matches heading into this game, with the only anomaly being their 2-1 home defeat to Everton on 15th February.

The Eagles managed to beat Millwall 3-1 in a South London derby on Saturday as Japhet Tanganga scored an own goal before Daniel Munoz and Eddie Nketiah settled the outcome of the match itself.

Prior to their FA Cup Fifth Round win, Glasner’s men had beaten Aston Villa 4-1, Fulham 2-0 and Doncaster Rovers 2-0.

Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town were knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties (5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw) by Nottingham Forest on Monday night despite George Hirst’s 53rd-minute opener at the City Ground.

In the run-up to that game, McKenna’s side had suffered defeats to Manchester United (3-2) and Tottenham Hotspur (4-1) after a 1-1 away draw at Aston Villa. The Tractor Boys had beaten Coventry City 4-1 in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.
