Ipswich vs Brentford Prediction

Ipswich Town have nothing to play for with their relegation already confirmed, as Brentford should overcome the challenge of the home side as the Bees look set to make a late push for the European places at the end of the season, following their recent form.

The Tractor Boys have been poor defensively, as they have not kept a clean sheet in 17 matches. This particularly doesn’t bode well facing a Brentford side, who have scored 10 goals in their last three matches and scored four past Ipswich Town in the reverse meeting between the two sides.

Thomas Frank’s side have picked up form at the right time of the season, as the Bees are unbeaten in five matches and have won their last three games following their recent win against Manchester United. Brentford have also found clean sheets difficult to obtain, with both teams scoring in five of their previous seven matches.

Brentford are unbeaten in the last four meetings between the two teams, and they look assured to extend that run to five matches. Ipswich Town have shown they can still provide an attacking threat, as evidenced by their two goals against Everton, so we predict a 3-1 win for the visiting side from London.

Ipswich Town 1-3 Brentford

Ipswich vs Brentford Preview & Prediction

Relegated Ipswich Town face an uphill struggle on Saturday, when they take on a Brentford side who could potentially finish with a European place this season.

Date: 10/05/2025
Location: Portman Road, Ipswich.
Kick-Off: 3 pm

Ipswich Town’s time in the Premier League has proven to be too soon for the Tractor Boys, as their relegation was confirmed with their defeat to Newcastle United (3-0). Kieran McKenna’s side has been statistically the best-performing side of the newly promoted teams, as they sit on 22 points from 35 games played, a point clear of Leicester City. The lowest place Ipswich Town can finish is 19th, as they are mathematically clear of Southampton, who are 20th. The home side have scored 35 goals this season, and Liam Delap has contributed 12 of those 35 this campaign.

Brentford have been excellent once again under Thomas Frank, and this season, the Bees find themselves in ninth place in the Premier League after 35 games played. Brentford’s form has lifted them to the cusp of a potential European place, but it would require different variables in order for the visitors to qualify for Europe. Brentford will have to finish in eighth place in the Premier League and hope that Manchester City win the FA Cup and that Chelsea win the UEFA Conference League to qualify for the latter.

Where to watch

The game will not be available to watch in the UK because of the 3 pm Blackout.

Form Guide

Ipswich Town:

Ipswich Town are on an unwanted run of five games without a win in the Premier League. However, they did show signs of determination against Everton by securing a comeback from two goals down, to grab a point at Goodison Park. Ipswich Town also gained a point against Chelsea (2-2) away from home. The Tractor Boys have lost three of their previous five league games, with defeats against Newcastle United (3-0), Arsenal (0-4) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (1-2).

At home, Ipswich Town have the second-worst record in the division, with only Southampton on five points having an inferior record. Ipswich Town’s only home win in the Premier League happened before the start of the new year, where they beat Chelsea (2-0) at Portman Road.

Brentford:

Brentford are in far better form than their counterparts, as Thomas Frank’s side have won their previous three matches in the Premier League, while remaining unbeaten in their last five games in the league. The Bees have recorded notable victories against Manchester United (4-3), Nottingham Forest (0-2) and Brighton & Hove Albion (4-2).

The visitors have only the 12th-best away record in the division, although they have picked up notable wins on their travels with victories against Nottingham Forest (0-2), Bournemouth (1-2) and Leicester City (0-4). Interestingly, all six away wins for Brentford have taken place in 2025.
