Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to bring a halt to their spiralling form as they face off against Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend.
- Date: 02/12/2025
- Kick-off: 8:15pm
- Location: St James' Park, Newcastle
Newcastle United are currently 13th in the Premier League with 18 points from 13 games. So far, the season hasn't panned out quite like Newcastle would've liked, with the Magpies looking way off the required standard to challenge for a top four finish.
However, they do come into this game having picked up two excellent wins in recent outings, firstly against Man City, where they won 2-1, and most recently away at Everton, where they surged to a 4-1 win on the road. Newcastle's Achilles heel has been their away form, with their win over Everton their first on the road in the league this season.
Their games are often easy on the eye, with over 2.5 goals having been scored in five of their last six games, while BTTS has occurred in five of their last six outings too.
Spurs, meanwhile, come into this game under palpable pressure. The North Londoners have just two wins from their last nine games and have lost seven of their last five, and with the team's performances often drab and uninspiring, many are calling for the manager's head. Spurs are really uninspiring creatively, producing an expected goals rate of just 0.92xG per 90, and their defensive solidity is also starting to wane, so as a result they're becoming an extremely ineffective football team.
Over 2.5 goals have been scored in all of their last five games, while BTTS has occurred in all of their last four, so we should see an entertaining game here. Over 2.5 goals have also been scored in nine of the last ten head-to-head meetings between these two, so they have a history of putting on a show.
Newcastle have won all of their last four meetings with Spurs, including a 2-0 win in the EFL Cup earlier this season, and given how poor Tottenham's form is, we fancy them to make it five on the bounce.
Newcastle 3-1 Tottenham
