West Ham United vs Brentford Prediction

West Ham versus Brentford is a tough game to call, as the Irons have the fifth-worst home record of any Premier League side, having earned just 14 points in 12 matches, while the Bees have the third-worst away record, picking up eight points from 11 games.

The reverse fixture in late September resulted in a 1-1 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium, a scoreline that we can see being repeated here, as West Ham have scored 16 goals in 12 games at the London Stadium, while Brentford have conceded just 17 times in 11 away matches.

Prediction: West Ham 1-1 Brentford

West Ham United vs Brentford Prediction & Preview

15th-place West Ham United hosts 11th-place Brentford at the London Stadium on Saturday in what is set to be an intriguing Premier League encounter.

Date: 15/02/2025

Location: London Stadium

Time: 3pm

When these two sides last me in September, the match finished all square at 1-1 as Tomas Soucek cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo’s opener, meaning that the Hammers were the only side in eight attempts to pick-up a point at the Gtech Community Stadium at the start of the 2024/25 season.

Since then, West Ham have been part of the typical managerial merry-go-round in the Premier League, having replaced former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui with Graham Potter on 9th January, having accumulated 23 points from 20 matches.

Following Lopetegui’s departure which saw him finish on a 32% win percentage with seven wins, five draws and ten defeats after 22 matches, Potter has actually fared worse, winning one, drawing one and losing three of his first five games in charge, however, it must be stated that the ex-Chelsea manager is attempting to implement a more proactive style of play, one that fans of the Hammers craved after the departures of both David Moyes and Lopetegui.

West Ham’s sole focus is the Premier League, as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa (2-1) in Potter’s first game in charge, while in the League Cup, they were thrashed 5-1 by Liverpool at Anfield in late September.

Brentford are enjoying another steady season in the top-flight under the management of Thomas Frank, as they sit on 31 points from 24 matches, seeing them nine points adrift of seventh-place Bournemouth, while being 14 points clear of the relegation zone. This is a terrific achievement by the Bees when considering the departure of talismanic figure Ivan Toney during last summer’s transfer window.

Mbeumo has been fantastic for the Bees once again this campaign, as the 25-year-old Cameroon international has scored 14 times and created three assists in 24 Premier League matches, seeing him as the fifth-top scorer in the division, level with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and only behind Chris Wood, Alexander Isak, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.

As far as cup competitions go, Brentford will be focussing on a solid league finish as they suffered a shock elimination at the hands of Plymouth Argyle in the Third Round of the FA Cup, while in the League Cup, they exited at the quarter-finals away at Newcastle (3-1).

Where to Watch

Form Guide

West Ham United

Following their FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa (2-1) on 10th January, the Irons managed their first and only win under Graham Potter to date as they beat Fulham 3-2 at the London Stadium thanks to goals by Carlos Soler, Tomas Soucek and Lucas Paqueta.

However, since then, West Ham have gone on to suffer defeats to Crystal Palace (2-0) and Chelsea (2-1) on either side of a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa where a 70th-minute Emerson goal cancelled out Jacob Ramsey’s eighth-minute opener.

Brentford

Brentford suffered a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last time out as a Vitaly Janelt own goal and late Pape Matar Sarr goal gave the Lilywhites all three points.

Prior to that match, the Bees had beaten Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park thanks to goals by Bryan Mbeumo and Kevin Schade after previously suffered defeats to Liverpool (2-0) and Plymouth Argyle (1-0) on either side of a dramatic 2-2 home draw with Manchester City where Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard both got on the scoresheet in the final eight minutes of the game to rescue an unlikely point for Brentford.
