Since then, they have managed to win just two of their last 16 games, a record that Eduardo Coudet will be desperate to change.

Coudet took charge of Alaves on 2nd December and has overseen just one win in eight games, starting on a poor note as his side suffered a humiliating defeat to Deportivo Minera in the Copa del Rey on penalties after a 2-2 draw. His predecessor, Luis Garcia, had overseen 15 league matches, earning 14 of their 21 points.

On the other hand, Getafe have 24 points from 22 matches, having won five, drawn nine and lost eight, while having the reputation of being a solid but unspectacular side, having scored 17 goals, while also conceding the same amount across these matches.

Unusually, Getafe’s top scorer is combative Uruguayan central midfielder Mauro Arambarri who has fired in five goals in 20 La Liga appearances this campaign, a haul that has seen him double his overall career La Liga goal tally, despite being at the club since August 2017.

Uncharacteristically, Getafe suffered a heavy defeat to Atlético Madrid in the Copa del Rey in midweek, as they were thrashed 5-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano, a result that could see José Bordalás’ men fired up for Sunday’s kick-off as an act of redemption.

In the run-up to that game, the visitors had managed two wins and two draws, as they beat Real Sociedad 3-0 and Pontevedra 1-0 while drawing with both Sevilla (0-0) and Barcelona (1-1).
