Dundee vs Rangers Prediction

Rangers are heavy favourites to win this clash at Dens Park, as they sit second in the Scottish Premiership with 62 points from 30 matches, while Dundee are 11th in the table with 26 points having played the same number of games.

Dundee’s home record is poor, as they have the second-worst in the division, having won four, drawn four and lost seven of their matches at Dens Park, scoring 27 and conceding 32 in the process.

On the other hand, Rangers have the second-best away record, having accumulated 25 points from 15 matches away from Ibrox. Barry Ferguson’s men will enter this game full of confidence, having beaten Celtic 3-2 at Celtic Park in their last outing.

Rangers have won 18 of their 23 meetings with Dundee, however, the last meeting did result in a 1-1 draw back in January, while the previous three prior to that saw Rangers earn three victories, hence, why we are backing the Gers to take all three points here.

Prediction: Dundee 1-2 Rangers

Dundee vs Rangers Prediction & Preview

Saturday night sees second-place Rangers make the trip to 11th-place Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.

Date: 29/03/2025

Location: Dens Park

Time: 5:30pm

As previously mentioned, the last meeting between these two sides on 9th January saw the match finish as a 1-1 draw, as Vaclav Cerny fired in an equaliser in the 34th-minute after Oluwasean Adewumi.

Rangers managed to win the other two matches between these two sides this season, as they beat Dundee 1-0 back on 21st December, as well as 3-0 in the Scottish League Cup as Cyriel Dessers fired in a brace, while James Tavernier scored from the penalty spot.

Dundee are in desperate need of points, as they sit 11th-place with 31 points from 30 matches, meaning that they occupy the relegation play-off place. Consequently, they are one point behind 10th-place Kilmarnock and five points ahead of bottom of the table St. Johnstone.

The Gers have had a troubled season which resulted in the dismissal of Philippe Clement on 23rd February, a matter of two weeks after a humiliating Scottish Cup exit to Queen’s Park. At present, Rangers are 13 points adrift of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, meaning that their only consolation would be a good run in Europe, having reach the Europa League’s quarter-finals after beating Fenerbahçe on penalties after a 3-3 aggregate draw.

Ferguson’s side will face off against Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League’s quarter-finals, with the first leg taking place at Ibrox on 10th April.

Form Guide

Dundee

Dundee have won just one of their last five matches, with that sole victory coming last time out at the expense of fierce rivals Dundee United via a 4-2 scoreline at Tannadice.

Prior to that game, Dundee had suffered a 3-1 Scottish Cup defeat to Hearts after a 1-1 draw with St. Johnstone, on top of further losses to Motherwell (2-1) and Ross County (3-1).

Rangers

Rangers earned a sensational 3-2 victory over Celtic at Celtic Park last time out as Hamzane Igamane scored an 88th-minute winner after first half goals from Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande were cancelled out by strikes from Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate.

In the run-up to that game, the Gers managed to beat Fenerbahçe on penalties after a 3-3 aggregate draw, in the aftermath of a 2-1 loss to Motherwell and a 4-2 away win at Kilmarnock.
