Torino vs Genoa Prediction

Torino versus Genoa will be an interesting contest in Serie A, with just one point separating these two sides in the standings.

The home side are unbeaten in their last five matches, while Genoa have suffered two defeats in their last five games, meaning that Torino will be the slightly more confident side heading into this clash.

All of the last four meetings between these two sides have seen less than two goals scored, with both of the last two head-to-head games resulting in 0-0 draws, while the other two matches resulting in a 1-0 home win for each side, therefore, we are backing Torino to scrape a 1-0 victory.

Prediction: Torino 1-0 Genoa

Torino vs Genoa Prediction & Preview

Torino and Genoa go head-to-head at Olympic Grande Torino Stadium in a battle of 11th and 12th-place in Serie A.

Date: 08/02/2025

Location: Olympic Grande Torino Stadium

Time: 7:45pm

Paolo Vanoli’s side are firmly in a mid-table position, as Torino have earned 27 points from 23 matches, winning six, drawing nine and losing eight, seeing them sit seven points above the relegation zone, as well as 12 points behind Fiorentina who occupy the final European qualification place.

It looks likely that Torino will slightly regress on last season’s ninth-place finish, as their league position is all they have left to play for as they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Empoli (2-1) in late September after beating Cosenza (2-0) in early August.

Ex-Southampton man Che Adams has been one of the club’s brightest players this campaign, as the Scotland international has managed to find the back of the net seven times in 22 matches. Fans of the Turin-based club will be frustrated at Duvan Zapata’s hefty injury lay-off, as the Colombian had started the season in great fashion, scoring three times in seven league games before suffering a serious knee injury in early October.

On the other hand, Patrick Vieira is Genoa’s latest managerial recruitment, having joined the club back in late November after the departure of ex-AC Milan forward Alberto Gilardino. Under Vieira, Genoa have seen a good uplift in form, as they’ve won four and drawn four of their 10 matches thus far.

It looks highly likely that Genoa’s aim will be to consolidate their position in Italy’s top-flight for another campaign, as they have 26 points from 23 matches. Last season, Genoa accumulated 49 points, finishing 11th in the table.

Like Torino, Genoa will only be in league action until the end of the campaign having been knocked out of the Coppa Italia via a penalty shootout to Serie B outfit Sampdoria after a 1-1 draw. Prior to their Second Round exit, Genoa had beaten Reggiana 1-0.

Form Guide

Torino

Torino are unbeaten in their last five matches, as following their goalless draw with Parma on 5th January, they managed 1-1 draws with both Juventus and Fiorentina, with ex-Everton man Nikola Vlasic firing in their equaliser in the Derby della Mole against Juve.

Since then, the home side have managed to beat Cagliari as Che Adams scored a brace, while last time out, Torino earned a solid 1-1 draw away at Atalanta as Chilean defender Guillermo Maripan earned his side a point.

Genoa

The visitors have suffered defeats to Fiorentina (2-1) and AS Roma (3-1) on either side of a vital 2-0 home win over relegation-battling Monza, with Koni De Winter and Johan Vasquez getting on the scoresheet during that victory.

Prior to the aforementioned results, Genoa had scraped a narrow 1-0 home win over Parma as Morten Frendrup scored the only goal of the game in the aftermath of a drab 0-0 draw at Lecce.
